Golden State Warriors at Philadelphia 76ers NBA Betting

The Golden State Warriors will experience life on the road when they open a five-game Eastern Conference swing in primetime on Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Dubs played a majority of their games at home during the first two months of the season taking advantage of the schedule by compiling the best record in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns through 24 games. They’ve played seven more games in the Bay Area than outside it, but things even out in the end.

The contest between the Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers takes place at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA and will air live on ABC. BookMaker.eu will have odds for every game on the Saturday NBA schedule.

Odds Analysis

The Dubs didn’t really sneak up on anybody since they had the fourth-best odds to win the O’Brien Trophy at the start of the season. But I don’t think anyone expected them to win 20 of their first 24 games. And they haven’t just been beating teams they’ve been blowing them away. They’re outscoring opponents by an average of 13.0 points, which has led to a lot of payouts. They covered the 15.5-point spread in a 126-95 win over Orland on Monday for their ninth payout in 11 games and they’ve been one of the most profitable teams in the NBA going 17-6-1 ATS. The Sixers just completed a successful four-game road trip winning the final three improving to 14-11 SU. However, they failed to cover the last two and are just 2-5 ATS in their previous seven outings. Philly has been a strong team at home the past few seasons, but that’s changed. They are 1-4 SU and 0-5 ATS in their previous five home contests. The teams met just a few weeks ago with the Warriors overcoming a sluggish start and 19-point deficit to win 116-96 covering the 10-point line.

Golden State Warriors

It might be too early to compare this edition of the Warriors to their championship teams from a few seasons ago, but their play through the first few months of the season has the title talk returning to Northern California. The Warriors are arguably the most well rounded club in the Association, at least at this stage of the season. They rank second in scoring and boast the top defensive unit in terms of points allowed and field goal percentage.

Though the scoring numbers have dipped Stephen Curry might be having the best season of his career. He’s still scoring at a good clip and making three-pointers are a historic pace. And he’s leading by example on a team that has some young stars. Curry is second behind former teammate Kevin Durant averaging 27.7 points and he leads the league in threes made and attempted per game. Alan Wiggins chips in 18.7 points and Jordan Poole averages 17.9. Most impressively, though, is that five other players average between six and nine points. The balance is remarkable and tough to defend. Toss in their ability to shoot the basketball and you can see why they average nearly 114 points.

Philadelphia 76ers

The trickledown effect of the Ben Simmons saga continues to plague the Sixers. Not only are they missing a talented player, Simmons is still a major distraction. The organization tried to reconcile but Ben nixed that idea. I don’t think the Sixers will be completely free until they jettison head case. This situation has given an opportunity to others and we’ve seen Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton and Matisse Thybulle step up. The hope is that the team is better later in the season when Simmons is (hopefully) gone and other players feel more comfortable.

No matter who stands out the Sixers have the big man in the middle. Joel Embiid is having a marvelous season keeping the club above water. Embiid scored 32 points and Seth Curry added 23 in a 110-106 win over Charlotte on Wednesday night, Philly’s second win in three days over the Hornets. The Sixers will be playing their third game in four nights after their tussle with the Jazz on Thursday night. And it would behoove the Sixers to keep the game close. They are 4-2 in six games since falling to the Dubs with each of those contests decided by five points or less.

NBA Odds Pick

The score will likely be close on Saturday than it was a few weeks ago but the outcome will likely be the same. The Warriors have shown tremendous depth and balance and nobody shoots the ball better. But the big thing is their defense. They smother teams with relentless pressure on both ends of the floor. The Sixers caved in the previous meeting and they don’t have the horses to hang.

NBA Odds Prediction: Warriors 114, 76ers 105
