The Stanford Cardinal might not be the same team that was getting to the NCAA Tournament consistently last decade, but have had some promising results thus far this season. Stanford has already knocked off one tournament team from last year in Seton Hall and now will get another chance to add a notch to its resume when the Cardinal face the SMU Mustangs. SMU is looking to get to the tournament for just the second time this century and is off to a good start.... 

There aren’t many teams better than the Duke Blue Devils. Duke has been fantastic this season, despite an early loss to Kansas, and looks more talented than any team in the country. The Blue Devils have knocked off some of the teams considered to be among the best in the nation and are more than ready for the rigors of ACC play. Coach K’s squad will face a team they have never face before on Monday night in their second-to-last game before conference play, when they take on the Tennessee State T... 

It’s been a perfect start to the season for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Gonzaga is riding high at 10-0 heading into its last game against a marquee non-conference foe in the Tennessee Volunteers. The Bulldogs have already defeated five teams from power conferences this season, but facing Tennessee in its home state could be a tricky test. It’s been a struggle for the Oregon Ducks this season. Oregon came into this year with high hopes and a Top 5 ranking, but this side has been unable to live up to its billing. Many believed that Dillon Brooks’ return to the lineup would spark this team, but the Ducks haven’t looked like the same team we saw last season. Instead, Oregon is struggling to defeat lesser tier foes and there are legitimate concerns about how the Ducks will perform in PAC-12 play. The Davidson Wildcats have had plenty of time to prepare for the Kansas Jayhawks. It will have been 10 days since Davidson suited up when these teams meet on Saturday and there might be a little rust. Kansas has had a week off to prepare for Davidson and you can be sure that Bill Self has reminded his side that the last time these teams met, the Wildcats came out with a win. A Davidson win here would be huge for its chances to make the tournament if it doesn’t win the Atlantic-10.... 

There’s no doubt that the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Kentucky Wildcats are two of the best teams in the country. These teams are ranked 6 and 7 in both the Coaches and AP poll and have played great basketball through the early season slate. Both enter this game with just one loss and a win for either side would be its biggest victory thus far. Will North Carolina’s veterans carry the day? Or will it be Kentucky’s young freshmen?... 

Life after Buddy Hield has been hard for the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma has not had the same bite it had with Hield on the court last season and this team has limped through its non-conference schedule. The Sooners have lost to every potential tournament team they have faced and their best win on the season is against a Clemson team that hasn’t defeated anyone of note. However, as much as they have struggled, they aren’t in the same position as their opponent on Saturday afternoon, the Memphis T... 

It’s been an amazing start to the season for the No. 2 UCLA Bruins. UCLA looks every bit the contender with freshmen sensations Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf and are getting the right amount of support from veterans like Isaac Hamilton and Bryce Alford as well. They have now knocked off two high profile teams in a row in Kentucky and Michigan and will look to run their record to 12-0 on Saturday afternoon when they head to Sin City to face the Ohio State Buckeyes.... 

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish showed that their 9-0 start to the season wasn’t just the result of a weak out-of-conference slate. Notre Dame gave Villanova all it could handle last Saturday and although the Irish didn’t cover, were in the lead much of the way. This weekend they will get the opportunity to face another team that could go a long way in March Madness when they take on their in-state rival, the Purdue Boilermakers.... 

Sean Miller’s Arizona Wildcats have a few more games left before they begin PAC-12 play and a couple more big opponents left on their schedule. That will give them a few more chances to patch together an impressive non-conference resume and potentially boost the perceived strength of the PAC-12. One of those chances will come on Saturday afternoon when Arizona heads west to take on the Texas A&M Aggies of the SEC.... 

Former Big East foes will square off on Saturday afternoon when the Syracuse Orange host the Georgetown Hoyas. Both of these perennial powers have had shaky starts to their seasons, but while the Orange are coming off of a Final Four appearance last season, the Hoyas didn’t even make the NCAA Tournament. Only Georgetown has a win of consequence so far this year, but four non-conference losses already means they are in more dire straits than Syracuse.... 

The Big 5 is saving the most prestigious match-up for last this season. The Villanova Wildcats have won 18 straight against their Philadelphia brethren and already defeated La Salle, St. Joseph’s, and Pennsylvania this season. However, the Temple Owls have also rung up a 3-0 record against those same schools and now these teams play with the city championship on the line. Villanova has won the last three Big 5 titles and with a win here would be just two behind Temple for the school with the mos... 

The Texas Longhorns are off to a slow start but will get an easy matchup next time out when they host the Long Beach State 49ers. Texas needs to pick it up if the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, and while this one won’t do anything for the strength of schedule, at least it should add a win to the ledger.... 

The Colorado Buffaloes and BYU Cougars hope to be in contention for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament come March. Both would gain a nice win next time out, but only one can get it in what should be a competitive affair.... 

The Kentucky Wildcats lost their first game of the season recently to UCLA to drop from the top perch in the national rankings, and will now make their march back up. They should pick up an easy win against the Hofstra Pride, as the Wildcats have an overwhelming amount of talent which Hofstra will struggle to compete against.... 

The North Carolina Tar Heels have shaken off an early-season loss recently by winning two straight, and will be favored to keep it going in a home matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Tar Heels have one of the most talented rosters in college basketball and are rightfully ranked among the elite squads.... 

Few teams have played a schedule as daunting as the Wisconsin Badgers have to start the season. Rather than fill up on a bunch of soft non-conference creampuffs, the Badgers have taken on a litany of solid teams and this team is now one of the most battle tested in the country. However, they have only played one real road game thus far, and lost that one by double digits. Wisconsin will head on the road once more and hope for a different result when it faces the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturd... 

Kansas is perennially one of the top teams in the country and this year is no exception. The Jayhawks should be sizable home favorites and may need to cover a significant spread in this one. The Villanova Wildcats have vanquished all challengers thus far in 2016. The defending national champions have only been tested once, in a road tilt at Purdue in mid-November, and have shown that the belief that a jump shooting team can’t win a title is laughable. Villanova will square off against another undefeated team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, this Saturday in the inaugural Never Forget Tribute Classic. The event will provide education assistance to financially needy dependents of people killed or disabled in the 9/11 attacks.... 

UCLA is undefeated and is expected to remain that way as it will be the favorite in this one. The Wolverines have a solid record but are not of the same caliber team as the Bruins and will be hard-pressed to even keep this one within striking distance.At 8 p.m. ET, tune into ESPN2 for live television coverage of this NCAA basketball game on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Pauley Pavilion.... 

UNLV gets to play this game at home but that might not be too much help. The Blue Devils are clearly the superior team and should have no trouble cruising to victory. Missouri hasn’t had a great season but gets this one at home, which should make the spread manageable enough to potentially pull the upset. The Tigers are aiming for their first win over a high-major opponent but it won’t be easy.... 

The Georgetown Hoyas will need to pick up their level of play to avoid missing the NCAA men’s basketball tournament for the third time in four years. Georgetown has lost four games in the non-conference season and is already reaching a critical juncture as it faces off against the La Salle Explorers.... 

The Wichita State Shockers have stacked their non-conference schedule with a bunch of high-major opponents, and thus far have fared very well. They will prepare for another test soon as they face off against the Oklahoma Sooners.... 

It’s been a nightmare start to the season for Fran McCaffery and the Iowa Hawkeyes. While most power conference teams are currently padding their records with games against overmatched teams, the Hawkeyes decided to schedule some name out-of-conference foes to get their team ready for the rigors of Big Ten play.
