MLB World Series Betting Odds

MLB World Series Betting Odds

The Los Angeles Dodgers will try and do something that has not been done in more than 20 years, and that is win the World Series in consecutive seasons. The last team to defend their World Series title was the 2000 New York Yankees. The Dodgers begin the 2021 season as a solid favorite to repeat at odds of +330. The New York Yankees are the second choice in the betting odds at +520. Let’s look at 2021 World Series odds, the two favorites, some darkhorses and a couple of longshots.

Favorites

Los Angeles Dodgers +330

There is no surprise at the top, as the Dodgers and Yankees are favored to meet in the 2021 World Series. The Dodgers are bringing almost everyone back from last season’s World Series champion team and they added one of the top pitchers in the league in Trevor Bauer. The Dodgers are loaded from top to bottom and a deserving World Series favorite.

New York Yankees +520

The Yankees are the top choice out of the American League to win the World Series. They could be overvalued, however, as New York has some starting pitching concerns behind Gerrit Cole. The Yankees do have a potent lineup led by Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu, but it takes starting pitching to win a World Series and the Yankees may not have enough of it.

Darkhorses

San Diego Padres +755

When was the last time the Padres were given this much respect in terms of World Series odds? I would say never. The Padres went out and made big news in the off-season and signed Blake Snell and Yu Darvish. San Diego has a lineup that features a lot of young potential superstars and if the lineup delivers then the Padres could be a threat to the Dodgers in the NL West.

Atlanta Braves +956

The Braves are probably overvalued at these odds considering they would have to get past the Dodgers to win the World Series. Atlanta has Freddie Freeman to lead a potent lineup, but there are still question marks in the rotation.

New York Mets +976

The Mets are also overvalued for 2021. They not only have to get past the Dodgers to win the World Series but they also have to deal with the Braves in the National League East.

Chicago White Sox +995

The White Sox might be a team to challenge the Yankees in the American League this season. Chicago has solid starting pitching led by Lucas Giolito and Dallas Keuchel and they made a big move in the off-season to upgrade their bullpen, as they signed Laim Hendriks. There is no question the White Sox can hit, as they have AL MVP Jose Abreu to lead a talented lineup.

Longshots

St. Louis Cardinals +2353

When it comes to longshots there are not a lot of options because teams with huge odds have no chance to win in MLB. Baseball is not like the NFL where a team can come from nowhere and win the title. It is hard to find a lot of value in MLB futures. The Cardinals are at least worth a look, as they added Nolan Arenado to upgrade their lineup. The addition of Arenado should give St. Louis a big bat to go along with Paul Goldschmidt. If the Cardinals can get enough pitching they could be a team to watch this season.

Tampa Bay Rays +2855

If you want a live longshot in terms of 2021 World Series odds then the Tampa Bay Rays could be your choice. The Rays made the World Series a year ago and they look even better in 2021. The Rays went out and added Chris Archer and Michael Wacha to what already was a good starting rotation. The question with the Rays is whether they can score enough runs, but that was a concern last year and the Rays still nearly won it all.
