I had better success on my MLB parlay picks last week but still didn’t hit the ultimate prize. The Blue Jays have stumbled but backing them against the Twins was a good play since they won 10-8. The Phils were a moneyline favorite against the Marlins so instead I backed them against the 1.5-run spread to move the odds in my favor. And it proved to be another favorable outcome with Philly earning an 8-3 victory. All I needed was for the Dodgers and Padres to score 10 runs combined. LA did its part getting halfway there but the Pads in the shutout leaving me holding a losing ticket.
Since betting the over/under hasn’t worked out that well for me the last few weeks I’ll take a break and avoid the total on my three-team MLB parlay. Instead I’ll go with Cubs on the run line at home in a NL Central tilt with Pittsburgh. After a strong start the Buccos have faded while the Cubs are jostling with Milwaukee atop the division. Chicago took two of three in Pittsburgh last week and the offense got a jolt with the return Seiya Suzuki, who had two hits including a homer in Wednesday’s 7-1 over Atlanta.
Following their sweep of San Diego the Colorado Rockies are the hottest team in baseball with seven straight wins outscoring opponents by 29 runs in that span. The streak started with a 9-1 win over the Giants and a staff that boasted an ERA over 8.00 earlier in the season conceded three runs or less in six of the seven games. I’ll back the Rox on the road against an inconsistent SF unit.
San Diego has played to its competition so far taking two of three from the Cubs and Dodgers before getting swept by Colorado. They’ll have to take it up a notch on the road against Atlanta and with Yu Darvish dealing I expect they will with sweet moneyline odds on the road.

I missed my same game parlay last week with the Yankees falling 7-2 to Tampa Bay. I did hit the OVER but that was one of two NY losses in an 11-game span. The Phils won for the 12th time in 14 games with Wednesday’s 10-5 win over the Mets behind MLB’s highest scoring offense and fourth-best staff ERA. The teams cashed the UNDER in all three games during an earlier series and Washington’s MacKenzie Gore has been really good making runs tough to come by for Philadelphia, which is why I’m backing the UNDER.
