MLB Odds - MLB All-Star Game Preview

The Major League Baseball season is about halfway over, which means it is time for the All-Star Break to take center stage. Some of the game’s most recognized stars as well as a group of up-and-comers will be on display in the exhibition. The American League has been dominant of late with six consecutive victories, including an 8-6, 10-inning victory over the National League in 2018.

The A.L. is missing some of its bigger names this year because players like Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa have missed most of the season due to injury and didn’t make the team. That could help allow the National League to get back on track in this one, and the pitching staff the N.L. could potentially roll out helps reinforce that idea. However, this is still a one-game exhibition and it’s hard to know how it will turn out.

The MLB All-Star Game will be held at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 9th, 2019. The All-Star Game will be nationally televised on FOX.

We'll have MLB odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2019 Major League Baseball season.

Odds Analysis

The National League will be managed by Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts. It is not always the most comfortable position, as Roberts must balance trying to win the game with getting as many players as possible in the game, while also making sure not to use the pitchers too much.

The National League starting lineup will feature such big names as first baseman Freddie Freeman, third baseman Nolen Arenado, outfielder Christian Yelich and outfielder Cody Bellinger. The pitching staff is deep and talented and could be the reason why the N.L. finally comes out ahead. The reserve batters include such big names as third baseman Kris Bryant and outfielder Charlie Blackmon. There are a pair of huge young sluggers as well in Josh Bell and Pete Alonso who could change the tenor of the game with one swing.

Some of the big-name American League All-Star starters include outfielder Mike Trout, catcher Gary Sanchez, outfielder George Springer and third baseman Alex Bregman. Some of the reserves include outfielder Mookie Betts and first baseman Joey Gallo, who is having a breakout season for the Rangers. The American League pitching staff boasts excellent hurlers like Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Marcus Stroman. However, the N.L. staff certainly seems better.

If the National League can’t win this All-Star game, it begs the question when it will ever happen. Bellinger, Yelich, Arenado and Freeman will be tough to handle in the heart of the order and the hurlers should be able to keep many of the big-name American Leaguers in check.

The young power-hitting reserves for the N.L. should also not be counted out. Bell and Alonso are both having huge seasons and will be intent on proving that they belong on this type of stage. The American League has been utterly dominant in past years and players like Trout and Springer are still in the lineup, but there is quite a bit of firepower missing in 2019.

The National League should be well-positioned to finally break the long streak of dominance by the A.L. with a win in the 2019 MLB All-Star Game. There could be a decent number of offensive fireworks in this one, including several home runs based on the power surge that has overtaken baseball through the first half of the season.

MLB Pick: National League 6, American League 4
