MLB Odds - Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees MLB Game Preview

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees MLB Game Preview

The Boston Red Sox have one of the most talented teams in Major League Baseball, but they better start playing like it. Boston is hovering around .500 on the season while the Yankees and Rays are both excelling in the American League East. The Red Sox need to start closing the gap in the division and will get a golden opportunity to do so on Sunday in a matchup with New York,

The Yankees are at home for this game and the starting pitching matchup looks pretty even, so New York will feel good about its chances to win and extend its lead over the Red Sox. The season is still young but Boston would be well-served to start clawing back into the A.L. East race with a good performance in this series against the Yankees in MLB gambling.

This MLB game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will be held at Yankee Stadium in New York, New York at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Odds Analysis

The Red Sox have a record of 29-27 this year, which is a far cry from where many believed they would be. Boston has had some pitching issues and has not had a ton of luck in close games. The Red Sox are 15-15 on the road this season but will aim to pull off the upset in this one.

New York has a mark of 36-19 on the season, which is just ahead of the Rays for first place in the division. The Yankees have gone 19-11 at home on the year and have done a nice job of late with eight victories in their past 10 outings.

Probable Pitchers

The Red Sox are scheduled to send talented left-hander David Price to the hill. He is 2-2 with a 2.83 ERA on the season. Price has dealt with some minor injuries this year but has been effective when pitching Price threw six shutout innings against the Indians last time out but didn’t get a decision after the bullpen blew the lead.

The Yankees are projected to counter with veteran right-hander Masahiro Tanaka. He is 3-4 this year with a 3.20 ERA. Tanaka is a very consistent pitcher and will almost always give his team a chance to win. He has only given up six runs in his past four starts and will aim to stymie a strong Boston offense.

Injury Report

Red Sox star second baseman Dustin Pedroia was recently transferred to the 60-day injured list as he continues to deal with a troublesome knee injury. Pedroia, a former league MVP, has barely played this year and the prospect of retirement has come up. It does not seem likely that he plays again this season and this could be it for a marvelous career.

Pedroia was a very impressive player at his peak, playing great defense and getting on base consistently. The Red Sox will also miss his presence as one of the longtime veterans on the team. Boston has plenty of talent to make up for the loss but a healthy Pedroia would have been a nice boost.

Free MLB ATS Picks

The Yankees have the better record this season and are at home, but Boston’s lineup is more impressive currently as New York deals with some injuries. The Red Sox are going to break out of their funk in a big way by cruising to the victory in this game, which should pay off nicely on the runline in MLB wagering.

The “over” must be considered because the bats will get going in this one for both sides, even with a pair of talented pitchers on the mound.

MLB Pick: Boston Red Sox 8, New York Yankees 5
