MLB Futures – World Series Odds

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the hottest team in MLB and they saw their odds to win the 2019 World Series improve while leapfrogging the New York Yankees into the second favorite spot on the odds board at BookMaker.eu. Everyone in baseball is chasing the Houston Astros, who maintain their perch at the top of the list with odds of +385.

The biggest surprise continues to be the Minnesota Twins, who have the biggest lead of any first place team through the end of the week. The Twins took the final three games of a four-game set from Tampa Bay and they closed the week winning 15 of their last 18 games. Continuing their meteoric rise up the odds board, the Twins are now priced at +765.

Considering we could have bought the Twins at +2950 about a month ago, they are looking less and less like a bargain. But that’s gambling. They are still available at +765 and the way they’re playing that number is going to shrink in the next few weeks. The question is, can they continue at the rate they are currently playing?

We said the same thing a few weeks ago and the Twins proved that they can. They mash the baseball leading MLB in homers, average, OPS and runs per game. Their plus-109 run differential is also tops. The Twins also have the benefit of playing in a weak division where no other team is about .500 entering the week.

Wait until they play some quality teams and see how they fare, you say. Well, they took three of four from the Astros at home last month and did the same in Tampa this past weekend. Their next 12 games are against teams that are currently below .500 and unless something catastrophic happens, the Twins should have a clear path to the AL Central title.

The Astros are still the favorite despite having a worse record than the Twins. Houston has dealt with injury concerns, but continues to win games without Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. Those two will return at some point, and along with a wicked starting rotation the Astros will likely maintain their spot on the odds board.

It looks like time to fade the defending champs. We’ve been waiting all season for the Red Sox to get going and it just hasn’t happened. Call it the World Series hangover or whatever you want, the Sox are barely over .500 and it doesn’t appear as though they have the motivation to do any better. After starting the season as the favorite, they have slipped to seventh on the odds list with a price of +1600.

While the American League is closely contested by four teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers are running away in the senior circuit. LA swept East-leading Philadelphia over the weekend and leads all of MLB in victories. The Dodgers got to and over 40 wins before any other NL club reached 35. It looks like there will be some tight races in the East and Central, but the Dodgers are clearly the class of the West.

We saw the Rockies awaken in the NL and they have moved up the standings and the odds board. This is a team that won 91 games last year and finished just one game behind the Dodgers in the West. After a slow start, they are looking like a playoff team having won eight in a row to take over second place in the division and bet back in the wild card picture. Colorado’s odds improved from +11000 to +9000.
