MLB Betting Odds – 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers Win Total

On one hand the Los Angeles Dodgers 2020-win total of 101.5 looks like a very attainable goal when you consider that they won 106 games for the 2019 season. Additionally, LA won 104 games in the 2017 season. But the fact remains 100-win seasons are rare for any team, including the Dodgers. Prior to that 2017 season the last time the Dodgers posted a triple digit win campaign was all the way back in 1974 when they won 102 games. And the only other time they cleared the 100-win mark in LA was in 1962 with a total of 102 victories. Certainly, the Dodgers are the overwhelming favorite to win the National League pennant. But they won’t have to surpass 101.5 regular season wins to achieve that goal.

2020 Los Angeles Dodgers Win Total Odds Overview

In many ways this has been an unprecedented era of glory for the Dodgers, who have posted the most wins of any team in baseball since the start of the 2015 season. Yet they are now looking for their first World Series championship in 32 years. They are loaded with the best roster in the National League. But are also in the weakest division in baseball. The National League West will offer no challenge. As a result, the Dodgers are likely to use “load management” to keep players fresh for the playoffs. That is a major concern in regards to surpassing the 101.5-win total for 2020.

On the Hill

The Dodgers posted the top earned run average in baseball last year and were also first for WHIP, fifth for quality starts, and first for bullpen.

Number one starter Clayton Kershaw was 2014 NL Most Valuable Player, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, and an eight-time NL All-Star. Kershaw was 16-5 with a 3.03 earned run average and WHIP of 1.04 last year.

Second in the rotation is Walker Buehler, who was 14-4 with a 3.26 earned run average and WHIP of 1.04 last season. Buehler struck out 215 batters in 182.1 innings of work.

In 2019 closer Kenley Jansen was 5-3 with a 3.71 earned run average, 1.06 WHIP and 33 saves for 2019. He struck out 80 batters in 63 innings of work. Jansen has posted back to back seasons with an ERA of 3.00 or higher after being under 1.84 or less for the two seasons before that.

At the Plate

The arrival of Mookie Betts from the Boston Red Sox already added to the high expectations for LA, who ranked fifth for run production in 2019.

Right fielder Mookie Betts was AL Most Valuable Player for the Red Sox in 2018 and has been an All-Star for four consecutive seasons. But Betts dropped from a .346 batting average down to .295 last year. He also suffered dips in slugging percentage (.640 to .524) and OPS (1.078 to .915).

Centerfielder Cody Bellinger was 2019 NL Most Valuable Player and is a two-time NL All-Star. Bellinger clobbered 47 home runs with 121 runs and 115 runs batted in last season, just his third in the MLB.

First baseman Max Muncy was an All-Star last season with 101 runs, 35 home runs, and 98 runs batted in.

2020 Los Angeles Dodgers Win Total MLB Betting Odds Pick

Will the Dodgers win the National League West with ease? They certainly should. But that doesn’t mean that they will reach 101.5 wins for the 2020 season. The most important reason is that they won’t need to win that many games. Remember, LA’s objective is to keep players fresh for a deep playoff run. Beware of “load management” with this club.

2020 Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Betting Odds Prediction: Under 101.5 wins
