International Champions Cup Betting Odds – Paris Saint Germain vs. Atletico Madrid Preview

Paris Saint Germain vs. Atletico Madrid Bets Online

Thomas Tuchel took over for Unai Emery as manager of Paris Saint Germain this offseason, and the task laid before him is to win the Champions League. PSG has won everything there is to win in France at this point, but European success has eluded the club. They have failed to make it past the Quarterfinals of the Champions League in their last few seasons, despite spending an exorbitant amount of money on superstars. With this goal in mind, Tuchel has largely sat his stars for PSG’s preseason slate in order to have them ready for the regular season. Many are unlikely to play when PSG squares off against Atletico Madrid in Singapore on Monday.

The International Champions Cup brings some of the top clubs in Europe to cities around the world that normally don’t get to see top flight football. The match will take place at Singapore National Stadium in Singapore at 7:35 a.m. ET on Monday, July 30, 2018. Catch every moment of the match live on ESPNU.

Atletico Madrid has to be considered the clear favorite coming into this match. Atletico was able to best an Arsenal side that hammered PSG on Saturday, winning in penalty kicks. In that match, Atletico was without most of its first-choice players, especially on offense. Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann won’t be joining the team until they head back to Europe, and new acquisition Thomas Lemar only passed his initial physical recently.

Even with their reserves, the club still defends tenaciously. Arsenal found that out when they could only squeeze out one goal against a line-up that lacked star power. In that match, Atletico’s goalkeepers also came up big, with Jan Oblak looking sharp and new back-up Antonio Adan performing very well too. Adan stopped three penalty kicks in the shootout to give Atletico a victory.

PSG played well for the first half against Bayern Munich last week. Timothy Weah scored in the first half for the French club, and they took a 1-0 lead into halftime before blowing it in the second half.

Against Arsenal, the club again performed well in the first half. They allowed one goal to Arsenal’s line-up that was largely made up of first teamers. Unfortunately, the wheels came off in the second half once again. Arsenal fired home four goals in the last 25 minutes of the match to pick up a 5-1 victory.

Paris Saint Germain Player to Watch

Gianluigi Buffon made headlines by signing with PSG instead of retiring last month. The Italian goalkeeper looked like he may have regretted his decision after a few shaky performances in scrimmages and closed-door matches, but he has since regained the form that made him a legend for Juventus and Italy.

Buffon performed pretty well in the time he was on the pitch against Bayern Munich. He really shined against Arsenal though, turning away numerous great opportunities to keep the score closer than it should have been for a while.

Atletico Madrid Player to Watch

It’s not often you talk about a back-up goalkeeper. However, the addition of Adan might be one of the biggest moves of the offseason in La Liga. Oblak has been heavily coveted by many European giants, and with Liverpool breaking the bank for Alisson, clubs seem more willing to pay off his steep reserve clause. It would put Atletico in an awkward position if it happened mid-season, so the club made the move to grab Adan from Real Betis. Adan was a reserve at Real Madrid for a number of years before becoming a starter at Betis, so he knows how to carry himself in either role.

Atletico’s defense will carry the day once more, leading the club to a victory over PSG. PSG won’t be too keen on this match since they have to play Monaco for the Champions Trophy next Saturday and grabbing a trophy is more important than winning here.
