Will Brooks takes on Luis Pena at XMMA 5: 5outhern Heat on Saturday, July 23 in Columbia, South Carolina. This headline fight is one of 15 bouts on a card that features a number of fighters who have previous UFC experience. In fact, XMMA 5 features 14 fighters who fought at least once in the UFC. Brooks is 23-5 in his career, while Pena is 11-3. Two other interesting fights have Andre Harrison taking on Maike Linhares and Jared Gooden taking on Impa Kasanganay. Will Brooks vs. Luis Pena

Brooks is 3-1-1 in his last five fights. He won by 1st round TKO against Rafael Bastos in April, won by 3rd round submission against Jose Filho in October of last year, won a unanimous decision against Steven Siler in July of last year, lost by submission to Gleison Tibau in July of 2019 and fought to a draw against Rashid Magomedov in October of 2018.

Pena is 4-1 in his last five fights. He won by first round TKO against Gustavo Wurlitzer last month at Titan FC 77, won by 1st round submission against Zach Zane in May, won by split decision against Alexander Munoz in April of last year, lost by 3rd round submission to Khama Worthy in June of 2020 and won a unanimous decision against Steve Garcia in February of 2020.

Pena is on a nice roll of late and overall has fought better competition. I’ll take Pena to get the win.

Andre Harrison vs. Miake Linhares

Harrison takes on Linhares in what originally was the main event. Harrison is 2-2-1 in his last five fights. He doesn’t have a lot of power, as he has just four knockouts in his career. He is coming off a good win last time out, as he knocked out Mauro Chaulet at CES MMA 65 in November of last year. Previously, Harrison lost to Alex Gilpin by 2nd round submission at the season playoffs at PFL8 in October of 2019, fought to a draw against Moylid Khaybulaev in PFL 5 in July of 2019, won a unanimous decision against Peter Petties in PFL 2 in May of 2019 and lost to Lance Palmer by unanimous decision in the PFL Playoffs in October of 2018. Harrison has been a pro since 2011 and he has four wins by knockout and two by submission. He has four first round finishes.

Linhares is 4-1 in his last five fights. He is coming off a split decision win against Michel da Cruz Lima at BFS 4 in December of last year. He knocked out Fabricio Oliveira in the 2nd round at BFS 1 in August of last year, won by 2nd round submission against Everton Monteiro at Future FC 4 in April of 2019, lost by unanimous decision to Adlan Bataev at ACB 79 in January of 2019 and won by unanimous decision against Alexsandro Santos Rodrigues at Maximum Midway in December of 2017.

Neither of these two has much power, so I’ll take the rounds to go over the total.

Jared Gooden vs. Impa Kasanganay

Jared Gooden goes up against Impa Kasanganay. Gooden comes into this fight with a record of 20-7, while Kasanganay is 9-3. You may remember Gooden from XMMA 4: Black Magic, as he defeated Curtis Millender. You may also remember Kasanganay who was fighting in the UFC last year.

I don’t like what I have seen from Kasanganay of late, so I’ll take Gooden to get the win.
