UFC on FOX 31 Props - Jessica-Rose Clark vs. Andrea Lee

Women’s flyweight prospect Andrea “KGB” Lee (9-2, 2 KOs, 4 SUBs) will square off with Australia’s Jessica-Rose Clark (9-5, 2 KOs, 2 SUBs) at UFC on FOX 31 on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The card airs live on FOX starting 8pm EST.

As the newest weight class in the UFC, the women’s flyweight division is in need of stars to really carry the division. Andrea “KGB” Lee is somebody who could fill that role: she’s got the “it” factor in terms of look and personality. But the 29-year old is still somewhat untested at the highest level. Coming off a win over Veronica Macedo in her UFC debut, Lee will take a slight step up in competition against Jessica-Rose Clark this Saturday in Milwaukee.

Clark most recently dropped a decision to Jessica Eye this past June, but prior to the defeat she picked up wins over Bec Rawlings and Paige VanZant in both of her UFC appearances. She’s what you’d consider a safe opponent for a prospect like Andrea: not contender material, but gritty enough to put up a fight.

Lee sharpened her trade in Invicta FC and Legacy Fighting Alliance, which are generally regarded as the UFC’s best feeder leagues. After winning and defending the LFA belt, Lee was finally brought over to the big show, though her debut was delayed because of a USADA violation. Let’s hope it was a one-time thing, because Lee could be a real player at 125 pounds.

Lee is not some raw MMA talent: she’s a black belt in Kyokushin karate, a brown belt in judo, a kru Muay Thai (basically black belt level) and a purple belt under Relson Gracie. Though she’s got more submission wins than knockouts, KGB does her best work on the feet, coming forward with a jab and round kicks to the leg and gut. Once she pressures her opponent in to the cage, KGB lets loose with crisp, dynamic punching combinations. If it gets into the clinch, Lee unleashes her Muay Thai beast with knees to the head and body.

Clark fights in a way typical to a lot of mid-tier women fighters: solid but unspectacular boxing, and somewhat sloppy wrestling that relies more on brute strength over technique. Though she can pop with her power punches, Clark is often there to be hit. Consistency has been a problem for “Jessy Jess”, and her scrap against Paige VanZant uncovered possible cardio issues. She gutted out that win by falling back on kicks, but that can’t happen again against a much more skilled opponent in Lee.

In this matchup, Lee is the more skilled fighter in both the striking and grappling phases. The question here is if Clark will be able to muscle her around. Both of Clark’s win were a bit sloppy, with the Australian spending much of her time pressing her foes into the cage and dragging them to the mat.

Bet online: Lee to win at -285

Lee’s name has been in the news for the wrong reasons lately: she’s going through a domestic abuse spat with her husband, who was also called out for having white supremacist prison tattoos. That’s a lot of distractions, but even considering the out-of-cage issues she is simply the more talented fighter.

Bet online: Fight goes the distance

Though Lee is talented at getting stoppages, Clark has never been finished in 14 fights. Lee is not a power puncher, nor is she powerful enough to overwhelm Clark on the ground. This one should go to the cards.
