Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar (23-6, 7 KOs, 4 SUBs) will meet “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung (14-4, 4 KOs, 8 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 139 on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The card airs live on FS1.
The UFC is calling on two of their most exciting fighters to headline their 25th anniversary show. Former lightweight champion and two-time featherweight title challenger Frankie Edgar meets action hero and fan favorite Chan Sung Jung, better known as The Korean Zombie, in the main event of UFC Fight Night 139.
If you didn’t know, these fighters each have a Fight of the Year on their resumes, along with loads of post-fight bonuses. Edgar is one of the grittiest fighters ever to step into the octagon, while The Korean Zombie is one of the sport’s most exciting. Who can forget Edgar’s back-to-back comebacks against Gray Maynard? What about Zombie’s thriller against Dustin Poirier or his twister sub on Leonard Garcia?
Throwing them in a cage together pretty much guarantees an instant classic. There’s also big title implications here as well. If the Korean can take out a perennial contender, he’s an easy sell for a title shot. Though Edgar was blasted by Brian Ortega, he’s still owed a shot at champion at Max Holloway. Should the Hawaiian defend his title against T-City, Edgar vs. Holloway has a great chance of happening.
Expect the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu to open with Edgar as a solid favorite. Zombie’s injury history makes it fair to question whether he’s the same fighter, while Edgar has kept trucking at featherweight - his only losses in the division have come against Jose Aldo and Brian Ortega.

Bet on Edgar vs. The Korean Zombie Odds
There are a few advantages that Edgar has which makes him the favorite. First and foremost is his status as an elite MMA wrestler. We’ve seen Frankie dominate fighters time and time again when he can impose his wrestling. Cub Swanson had no answer for the takedowns. Yair Rodriguez might never be the same after getting his face mashed in while on his back. Jung has good takedown defense, but only Jose Aldo was able to consistently stop his attempts.
On the feet, Edgar’s technical brilliance is more reliable than Zombie’s creative genius. The Korean’s reckless style can lead to him eating some heavy hits, and while Edgar isn’t a knockout artist he’s a master at slipping punches and landing combinations in return.
Still, there are a few reasons why Edgar is not a bigger favorite. The Zombie’s ground game is ridiculously slick, as he can get into a flow state with rad submission attempts. His chain attempts against Dustin Poirier were a thing of beauty. While Edgar is a master of top control, holding down a slippery wolverine like Zombie has to be exhausting. In the standup, Jung is more dangerous in bursts, and he’s huge for the featherweight division.
