Light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira (27-6, 17 KOs, 6 SUBs) and veteran Corey Anderson (10-4, 4 KOs) will meet at UFC Fight Night 134 on Sunday, July 22 in Hamburg, Germany. The card airs live on FS1 starting 11 am ET.
Glover Teixeira’s got a new dance partner this weekend. With Ilir Latifi pulling out of their original matchup, the Brazilian will now meet Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night 134 this Sunday in Hamburg. Anderson had been pushing for the fight on social media as soon as Latifi was scrapped, and now the American will have less than two weeks to prepare.
Teixeira’s been one of the best fighters in the weight class for a while, racking up a 10-4 octagon record with his only losses coming to Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Johnson, Phil Davis and Jon Jones. It’d be an impressive accomplishment for Anderson to join that list, though unlikely on paper. “Overtime” has lost to every contender he’s faced, which includes Shogun Rua, Jimi Manuwa and Ovince St. Preux.

At 28, Anderson is still young enough to be considered a light heavyweight prospect - especially in a paper thin division. However, his failure to break through against upper-tier fighters make you question that tag. Which is strange, because he passes the eyeball test in a lot of ways.
As the winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Anderson is an excellent athlete and an effective wrestler. Those two things alone can carry a guy a long way. The problem is that he hasn’t really grown as an overall MMA fighter, and a faulty chin has been costly in high profile fights against Jimi Manuwa and Ovince St. Preux. Against a puncher like Glover, Anderson has no other choice but to wrestle.
The problem is that Glover is an excellent, underrated wrestler as well. And banging with Teixeira has rarely been a winning proposition - the Brazilian owns 17 KOs in 27 career wins. The only man that was able to consistently take down and control Teixeira was Phil Davis, a former NCAA champion. In all of his other losses, he was soundly outstruck or knocked out by top-level strikers.
Anderson isn’t on the same level as Davis when it comes to grappling, and he isn’t nearly the same striker as somebody like Gustafsson or Rumble Johnson. That’s clearly reflected in the sportsbook.
