Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win this week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event in Austin, Texas. Although the event is match play, it is not an elimination event until the weekend, as the 64 players compete in round-robin matches on Wednesday through Friday. The winners of the 16 groups advance to a single-elimination bracket with the round of 16 and quarterfinals played on Saturday, while the semifinals and final are played on Sunday. Let’s look at this event that features most of the top players in the world, the odds and predictions.... 

If you like playing golf matchups, then this is the week for you, as the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event takes place from Wednesday through Sunday. A total of 64 players compete in round-robin play from Wednesday through Friday in group play with the winners of the 16 groups advancing to the weekend. Almost all of the top players in the world are in the field including World No. 1 Dustin Johnson, No. 2 Rory McIlroy, No. 3 Jason Day and No. 4 Hideki Matsuyama. Let’s look at the first round... 

Defending champion Jason Day +850, Japan sensation Hideki Matsuyama +1000, Rory McIlroy +750 and Rickie Fowler +1500 headline this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. It should be quite an emotional event after the passing of Arnold Palmer earlier this year, making 2017 the first year that the “King” won’t be on hand. And I am stunned that more elite players didn’t show up to play to honor the great Arnold Palmer. Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm, I am talking to you, why aren’t you guys playing?... 

The Florida Swing continues on the PGA Tour at this week’s Valspar Championship that features four of the top 15 and eight of the top 30 in the current Official World Rankings.Henrik Stenson +1000 and three-time winner and FedEx Cup points leader Justin Thomas +1100 headline the field. Stenson had to withdraw last week due to the flu but should be a full go. Thomas played well in Mexico last week and is a threat anytime he pegs it up.... 

The best players in the world are in Mexico this week for the WGC - Mexico Championship. The tournament was played in Miami at Trump Doral since 2007 but a move was in the works last year and now the event will be played in Mexico until the year 2023.The field is loaded! New World No. 1 Dustin Johnson +600 is joined by 49 of the top 50 in the current rankings. The only one missing is Jason Day who had to withdraw with an ear infection - imagine that!... 

The PGA Tour moves to Palm Beach, Florida for the first event of the Florida Swing at the Honda Classic and a strong field is on hand, led by defending champion Adam Scott +1000. Joining Scott are Sergio Garcia +1400, Justin Thomas +1200, Rickie Fowler +1500, Jimmy Walker +4550, Zach Johnson +3100, Daniel Berger +2400 and Brooks Koepka +3450.... 

The strongest field of the year is gathered in Los Angeles for the 2017 Genesis Open. It is loaded at the top and in depth. It features eight of the top 10 in the current world rankings and 16 of the top 25.... 

U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson +700 and world No. 1 Jason Day +800 headline this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am that also features eight of the top 25 players in the current world rankings. Both Day and Johnson missed the cut the last time they teed it up at the Farmers Insurance Open and will look to get back on track with a strong performance at Pebble Beach....

Tiger Woods +3050 makes his return to the PGA Tour this week at a place where he’s won a record seven times, the Farmers Insurance Open which gets underway January 26-29.Woods makes his first start in 522 days and will be joined by a world class field that includes three-time winner Phil Mickelson +2250, 2015 champion Jason Day +800, U.S. Open winner Dustin Johnson +950, defending champion Brandt Snedeker +2000, Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama +1200, major winner Justin Rose +2000 and Ryder Cup hero Patrick Reed +1750.... 

Defending champion Jason Dufner +3500, Patrick Reed +1200 and Phil Mickelson +1500 headline this week’s CareerBuilder Challenge held in La Quinta, California. Reed is the highest ranked player in the field at No. 8 and Mickelson is a two-time winner in the desert and also an ambassador for the tournament.... 

The first full field event on the 2017 PGA Tour season is this week in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Olympic Gold medalist Justin Rose +1900, last week’s winner Justin Thomas +1000 and World No. 5 Jordan Spieth +600 headline the Sony Open in Hawaii which boasts 22 players that played last week at the SBS Tournament of Champions. Hideki Matsuyama +650, Daniel Berger +2750, Brandt Snedeker +1550, Jimmy Walker +1250 and Jason Dufner +4750 are a few of the players we will see that tee... 

The PGA Tour is heading to Maui, Hawaii for the annual SBS Tournament of Champions that features only players that won on the PGA Tour from last year and the first few events of this year’s wrap around 2017 season. The action gets started January 5-8, 2017 live on the Golf Channel....

Tiger Woods makes his return to competition this week in the Bahamas at the Hero World Challenge. The elite, superstar 18-man field consists of 17 of the best players in the world and host Tiger Woods, who is ranked No. 861, yup 861, hard to believe, but true.... 

Tiger Woods is set to return next week at the Hero World Challenge. It’s a perfect place for him to make his return. The tournament is in Albany, Bahamas which is isolated and not many fans will be there. There are only 18 players in the field without a cut. He is the host of the tournament and can set up the course the way he likes it. One thing we know is Woods should play all four rounds, how he plays, is a different story....

The PGA Tour travels south of the border to Mexico for the OHL Classic at Mayakoba as the wrap around season continues. Veteran Jim Furyk +1650 makes his season debut and is joined by Englishman Luke Donald +4250, Jon Rahm +1500, Keegan Bradley +2000, Harris English +2750 and Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa +9000. Ian Poulter +6000 has five starts left on his medical e... 

PGA Championship winner Jimmy Walker +3500 and Ryder Cup teammates Brooks Koepka +1500 and Ryan Moore +1400 headline this week’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open which gets started Thursday in Las Vegas. The field also boasts six of the top 36 in the current world rankings. Defending champion Smylie Kaufman +7999 is also scheduled to play.... 

The PGA Tour travels back to the mainland for the 2016 Sanderson Farms Championship. Defending champion Peter Malnati +5500, Ian Poulter +1500 and Patton Kizzire +1400 headline the betting field. The field is weak but the opportunity is not. Poulter makes his second appearance after having foot problems that sidelined him for six months. He has nine more exemptions left to earn exempt status. Kizzire plays well this time of year and a player to keep your eye on this week.... 

The 2016 WGC-HSBC Champions has its strongest field to date with 43 of the top 50 players in the official world rankings confirmed for the tournament in Shanghai this week. The field is solid with eight of the world’s top ten, all of this year’s Major winners and 19 participants from the The Ryder Cup.... 

The PGA Tour travels to Malaysia this week for the seventh annual CIMB Classic and the field is strong for an event this time of year. The CIMB Group has done a fantastic job of recruiting world class players and this year’s field is the strongest it’s seen in its brief history.... 

The first event of the wrap around 2016-17 season gets underway this week in Napa, California and Tiger Woods was suppose to make his much anticipated return to golf and everyone was amped up in the Bay area, but Woods decided that his short game was not ready and withdrew on Monday, two days before the event. He commits on Friday and withdraws three days later. Confusing, but shows where Woods mindset is. Something is not right with Tiger Woods. He is afraid and until he gets over that, his game may as well stay at home because he is not ready now and may not ever be again. He has become fragile.... 

The Tour Championship ended last week and now we are ready to watch the most exciting tournament in all of golf, the Ryder Cup. United States vs. Europe in a much anticipated event that can be seen live on the Golf Channel and NBC. Davis Love III vs. Darren Clarke. Dustin Johnson against Rory McIlroy. Justin Rose vs. Jordan Spieth. The list goes on and on. This is an event that pits the best players from the United States against the best players from Europe in a three day marathon of match play golf.... 

The grand finale is here. The top 30 players in the current FedEx Cup rankings are ready to compete for the 10 million dollar purse. The top five players control their own destiny. Dustin Johnson +400, Patrick Reed +1800, Adam Scott +850, Jason Day +900 and Englishman Paul Casey +1350 have the inside track to capturing the title. It’s simple, if either of them win, they win the FedEx Cup. The points were reset after the BMW Championship, allowing everyone a mathematical chance of winning the yea...
