Zurich Classic of New Orleans Golf Odds - Bet on PGA Tour

Zurich Classic of New Orleans Golf Odds

After playing for themselves all season golfers have to abruptly shift gears this week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the only full-field team event on the PGA Tour. The field of 80 two-man teams will play a best ball format in rounds one and three and alternate shot format in rounds two and four at TPC Louisiana, located just outside of New Orleans. The top 33 teams and ties will advance to the weekend, making this one of the most difficult cuts to make. The event itself has been around since 1938 however this year marks just the sixth playing in a team format. And after their record-setting win last year, the duo of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele is favored to successfully defend their title. Odds Analysis

Adam Hadwin/Nick Taylor +3300

Not high on the list of notables this season, but individually the duo has been hanging around the top of the leaderboard more often than not. Taylor had a runner-up finish at the Phoenix Open two months ago, one of his seven top 20s this season. Most recently he was T15 at the Texas Open and T10 at the Valspar. Hadwin has been consistently good making the cut in 11 of his 14 tournaments that included a top 15 at THE PLAYERS. This appears to be a dangerous pairing with a nice payout.

Billy Horschel/Sam Burns +1400

Teaming up once again, this duo looks to finally break into the winners circle after a couple of near misses. Two years ago Horschel and Burns debuted as a team capturing a share of fourth place. If it wasn’t for the record-shattering performance of the team listed next, they likely would have won this event last year. Horschel and Burns made up strokes over the weekend but eventually fell two swings short of the winners. No team has enjoyed the format more than this one and winning is the next step.

Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele +300

I don’t typically bet the favorites and never at this price. However, it’s hard to pass on two of the best players in the field. Neither has won an individual title this season but they’ve been close on several occasions. Despite that the Presidents Cup teammates and likely future Ryder Cup besties display magic when playing together and a wager even at this price is likely a strong play.

Sahith Theegala/Justin Suh +2000

This pairing excites me and I couldn’t avoid backing them. Theegala is still looking for that maiden PGA victory and if he continues playing the way he’s been it’s coming sooner than later. He has seven top 10s, including each of his last two starts with a solo ninth at the Masters and T5 at Harbour Town. The top amateur before going pro, Suh placed among the top 6 twice in his last six starts and finished T11 here in 2021.

Alex Fitzpatrick/Matt Fitzpatrick +4000

There are some unique pairings in this event that make it so much fun. You have countrymen pegging it up, good friends and even former college teammates. But this team takes it a little further. The brothers peg it up with younger Alex making his PGA Tour debut as a professional. He had a couple top 25s on PGA Tour Canada last season. Meanwhile Matt is still soaking up the accolades from his win last week at Harbour Town. Brothers always have a competitive edge that non-siblings don’t, and that could be what takes this team all the way to the top.

Course: TPC Louisiana – 7,425 yards, Par 72

Located just 15 minutes outside of downtown New Orleans, TPC Louisiana has hosted this event since 2005. The overall layout is relatively easy for the pros with a high percentage of fairways and higher percentage of greens hit in regulation. Making things tough are more than 100 bunkers and several water hazards that were installed when the course became the permanent home in 2007. Given the conditions in the south and the vast amount of water, golfers who performed well during the Florida swing of the PGA Tour should feel comfortable here. Weather has been a factor in the past with plenty of delays and showers. We are hoping for better conditions, but this is an area where things change unexpectedly so golfers better be ready.
