PGA Championship Golf Odds

It’s major week with the PGA Tour headed to South Carolina for the PGA Championship, contested for the first time since 2012 at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. The stars are aligned for Rory McIlroy, who enters off a win last time out at the Wells Fargo Championship. McIlroy also posted the largest winning margin in PGA Championship history with his 8-shot title at this venue in 2012. Getting another win will be a challenge with one of the strongest fields assembled for the second major of the year. Jon Rahm opened as the betting favorite with a number of players lurking with odds shorter than 20/1. Further down the odds board is defending champion Collin Morikawa, who triumphed last August at TPC Harding Park. BookMaker.eu has a complete updated list of betting odds for the PGA Championship when you’re ready to make a wager.

Odds Analysis

Daniel Berger +3251

Closing the Byron Nelson with a 64 and a podium finish, Berger enters with a wave of momentum that he looks to turn into a major championship. The start before Berger found himself in contention carding a 10-under to finish T13 at the RBC Heritage. Though he played last week fatigue shouldn’t be an issue and with two top-15s in his previous three PGA Championship starts he’s used to the added scrutiny of a major.

Tony Finau +4050

I had to do a double take when I saw the odds for Finau on the opening line. While he’s missed the cut in half of his previous six starts he’s still one of the most consistent players on Tour. He’s been a beast in majors with a top-10 at the Masters from April and it wasn’t that long ago he earned back-to-back runner-up finishes including one in a playoff. He can drive with the best of them and I expect Finau will be at the top of his game this week. In fact I’m betting on it.

Dustin Johnson +1950

We are getting DJ at a discount this week due to some recent struggles. But when he’s dialed in he’s one of the best. Johnson dropped down the odds board after finishing outside the top-45 in four of his last five stroke play events. Big time players get amped up for big tournaments and this is a big tournament so I’m throwing some coin down on him.

Brooks Koepka +4800

If it wasn’t for Koepka’s play in majors I’d probably stay away from him. He returned from injury and missed the cut at the Byron Nelson, but it was more about playing than the result. And I’d have to say he wouldn’t be playing if he couldn’t go. Prior to his MC at the Masters Koepka was playing well with a win in Phoenix and a T2 at the WGC Workday. The injury came at an inopportune time but backing Brooks here has a tremendous payout.

Jordan Spieth +1750

As long as Spieth doesn’t psyche himself out he’s playing well enough to be a factor this week. We can say the slump is officially over with seven top-15s in his last eight stroke play tournaments, including a win at the Texas Open and a podium finish at the Masters last month. Spieth said the PGA Championship is the most difficult for him but he has to be feeling better about his chances for the career Grand Slam given his recent results.

Course: Kiawah Island Golf Resort – 7,876 yards, Par 72

At over 7,800 yards the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island is the longest in major championship history. That would seemingly give big hitters like Bryson DeChambeau an advantage, but it doesn’t always work out that way. The course also has a different look than the last time the PGA Championship was here. An additional 200 yards was added with six holes playing over 500 yards. With the course nestled along the banks of the Atlantic you can also expect wind to be a factor. Mother Nature is one true defense along with the length, but the players can overcome the distance.
