Butterfield Bermuda Championship Golf Odds - Bet on PGA Tour

Butterfield Bermuda Championship Golf Odds

As it turns out a week in Bermuda is a hard sell for some of the PGA’s biggest stars. Those players typically don’t play much in the fall anyway leaving valuable points on the course for players who could benefit more from having them. The FedExCup Fall schedule and 2022-23 season reaches its penultimate event with this week’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship, contested for the fifth consecutive year at Port Royal Golf Club. While star power is lacking there will be plenty of competition as players look to secure their 2024 Tour card with a high finish in the standings. Adam Scott makes his debut in Bermuda and just his second start of the fall, but he’s the betting favorite among six players with 20/1 or shorter odds. Odds Analysis

Akshay Bhatia +1800

Here I am backing Bhatia again after he got me a matchup win last week in Mexico. Turns out his affection for tropical destinations is real with another strong showing (T10) at the WWT Championship leading the field in par-5 scoring. He hasn’t been competing long on Tour but he’s been solid and looks to improve upon a T17 here last year when he hit a bunch of greens to score four sub-70 rounds. A better short game is all that’s needed to make up the shots.

Nick Hardy +3500

Backing Hardy for the outright is a bit of a stretcj, but there’s not better tournament to do that in than one like we have this week. The field is ripe for someone a bit further down the odds board to emerge and Hardy has a few things going for him. He’s already exempt into some big events next season and he’s playing to improve his standing rather than make the cut. That’s an incredible weight lifted. He also navigated Port Royal like a seasoned veteran last year placing among the top 25.

Taylor Pendrith +2200

It’s been a few years but I’m sure the wound feels fresh to Pendrith. When the Tour was here in 2021, the Canadian carded a course record 61 in the second round and followed that with a 65 for the 54-hole lead. Proving that things can change in a hurry, Pendrith closed with a 76 to finish three shots off the lead in a tie for fifth. After four straight MCs it looks like Pendrith found a groove going T3-T15 in his last two satarts.

Matti Schmid +6000

Back when I wrote articles for the European Tour, now known as the DP World Tour, Schmid made his debut bursting on the scene. I quickly snatched him up winning several matchups with him. Now the PGA Tour is calling and Schmid is ready to answer. After a tough start to the season he’s become more consistent with a complete tournament on the horizon. After MCs in 15 of his first 22 starts, Schmid has been better with only a third-round 73 stymieing a run. He also played well here last year finding himself in contention after 54 holes.

Brendon Todd +1600

Todd knows how to win on this course since he’s already done it taking the inaugural tournament with a course record 24-under 260 recording the largest margin of victory. And since he’s already in all the 2024 signature events he’s playing for a higher OWGR ranking and another win. It’s remarkable how relaxed you can be when playing on your terms. Hopefully Todd isn’t too relaxed since I’m backing in this market.

Course: Port Royal Golf Course – 6,828 yards, Par 71

A short 6,828 yards at par 71, Port Royal is best known for hosting the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 2009-2014. Prior to hosting, the track underwent a $14.5 million renovation. Given the distance we’re not going to see a lot of drivers this week. Port Royal can be tamed with pinpoint accuracy. There are eight par-4s that all play under 415 yards, so expect a lot of wedgies. There are hazards out there to offset the lack of distance. Every hole has at least one strategically placed bunker to stay clear of and several have multiple sand traps. Water is present on four holes that could alter a few tee shots. And finally, the coastal location is subject to wind gusts and difficult weather patterns that will be a factor.
