League of Legends NA LCS Spring Split Semifinals Betting Preview

League-of-Legends-tournament-3-29

For the first time in the six years that the LCS system has been around, North America’s champion will not be one of three teams. Team SoloMid, Cloud9, and Counter Logic Gaming have dominated the arena over the past half-decade, combining to win all 10 championships that have been fought over. However, CLG was unable to make it to the playoffs and both TSM and C9 suffered defeats last weekend in the Quarterfinals.

Those losses mean that one team will become the fourth ever North American squad to etch their names in League of Legends immortality. The winner will also represent the continent at the Mid-Season Invitational in France and Germany.

League of Legends NA LCS Spring Split Semifinals Betting Odds

Team Liquid -127
Echo Fox +107

After their 3-0 win over Cloud9 last week, many people are high on Liquid. However, although Liquid was able to pick up the sweep, it was not the pushover that you might expect. Cloud9 blew decent gold leads in the mid game twice during the series and took the gold lead late in another game before falling. These two sides were much more evenly matched than the final game line would indicate.

Echo Fox is going to want to play through Huni in the top lane. Huni has been the team’s star all season long with amazing carry picks that have led Echo to victories. He has been easily the best top laner in North America this season, showing why SK Telecom T1 signed him to be their starter last year.

In the bottom lane, Liquid has the advantage. With apologies to Altec and Adrian, Doublelift and Olleh have proved it on a big stage before and have really developed some good chemistry over the last few weeks.

That means the battle in the jungle and the mid lane will be very important. Dardoch was named the top jungler in North America this split, but Xmithie was right behind him in terms of the rankings. Pobelter has an edge over Fenix though, who has looked shaky over the latter half of the season. It will be Pobelter who leads Liquid to a win with his role in late game teamfights.

100 Thieves -160
Clutch Gaming +130

No one expected 100 Thieves to be the top team in North America during the regular season. However, Aphromoo had something to prove after being let go by CLG in the offseason. He has proven himself to be the best shot caller in the league and has been a godsend for 100 Thieves.

With Aphromoo on the roster, Cody Sun has shined. He has posted the best numbers of his career since playing in the NA LCS, and that has helped 100 Thieves establish themselves as the team to beat.

Clutch has to be feeling pretty confident after beating TSM last week though. Febiven had a fantastic series for Clutch, more than holding his own against Bjergsen in the mid lane. He has probably been the best mid laner of the split and that’s nothing to sneeze at in North America. Additionally, Hakuho was named the Player of the Series for his play on Braum and Thresh, giving CG its own star support.

This is a relatively even series, so I like the underdog here. Lira can knock 100 Thieves off their game in the laning phase with his creative jungle pathing and put Clutch in a good position.
