League of Legends LCK Korea Spring Split 2019 Week 4

We’re in a weird meta right now. During the LCK’s week off for the Lunar New Year, Riot dropped Patch 9.3 and made some significant changes. There have been major nerfs and buffs to a number of champions, but some of the ability changes have broken long-standing parts of the game. The ability to combine Frostfang and Kleptomancy together has made it so where some laners don’t have to worry about farming and don’t try to kill minions. Instead, they are constantly poking their enemy counterpart, and trying to get an early kill to snowball their lane. It has already led to really strange strategies and counter-strategies, and we are likely to see more of it in these games.

League of Legends LCK Korea Spring Split 2019 Week 4 Betting Odds

Hanwha Life Esports +145

Kingzone DragonX -175

Kingzone have already been in action once this week. They lost 2-1 to SK Telecom T1 on Wednesday, and in the one game they won, they had multiple players using the frostmancy strategy. That enabled them to light up the map with control wards, and they used that vision to slowly suffocate SKT.

For whatever reason, they changed tack in the next two games and ended up losing. Even though Pawn had some nice outplays on LeBlanc, it wasn’t enough, and their decision to draft Kai’Sa and Caitlyn for Deft was questioned after the match.

Regardless, they are favored over Hanwha Life Esports, who beat Gen.G 2-0 on Wednesday. HLE smashed Gen.G when they tried to use the necromancy strategy in their series, so it will be interesting to see whether or not Kingzone give it a go here.

These teams look pretty evenly matched to me. They are the two best teams outside of the big three, so I’ll take HLE as an underdog.

Griffin -860

KT Rolster +560

Chovy has been incredible this year. He became the first pro player ever to have a KDA over 100, and it wasn’t because he was being passive and just racking up assists. In six of Griffin’s 13 games, he has been on assassin Akali, and he has been constantly diving into the back line to pick up kills. His KDA is down to 42.7, but it’s still the highest in the world by a large margin.

Griffin have quickly established themselves as a global behemoth, and it will be interesting to see what they do in such a different meta. They have a reputation as a very creative team with great synergy, and they will want to upend the team that beat them for the 2018 Summer Split title in KT Rolster.

I buy the Griffin hype, but this line is bonkers. KT Rolster are the defending champions, and while they have struggled, they are still very talented. BDD has been good in the mid lane, and they could have come up with some cheese during the break. This is too good of a price to pass up on for KT.

DAMWON Gaming -580

Jin Air Green Wings +415

Poor Jin Air. Jin Air have yet to win a match this year, and they seem likely to finish at the bottom of the standings. Grace has not been consistent in the mid lane, and the bottom lane is the worst in the LCK by a wide margin.

They are just the antidote that DAMWON needs after their recent struggles. DAMWON have lost their last four matches, but they have played arguably the four toughest teams in the LCK. I think Nuclear and Hoit will rule in the bottom lane, and everyone will put up good numbers in a 2-0 rout.

SK Telecom T1 -455

Gen.G +340

No one was expecting Gen.G to be this bad. Gen.G are currently in eighth place in the LCK, and they have not had good play from some of their top players. Peanut was supposed to fix the jungle woes, but he has had a really rough time so far even on comfort picks like Lee Sin, and CuVee has not been a lane bully like in the past.

They are likely to be steamrolled by SKT in this one. Gen.G’s best performer has been AD Carry Ruler, and he can be mitigated by Teddy and Mata in the bottom lane. Top lane and mid lane will be huge advantages for SKT, and that’s where they will win.
