League of Legends EU LCS Spring Split Semifinals Betting Preview

eSports-Coverage-3-29

The Quarterfinals of the EU LCS Playoffs brought us some excitement, but in the end no upsets. Splyce was able to easily prevail over ROCCAT in a sweep, while H2K pushed Team Vitality to the edge before succumbing in the fifth and final game.

This week, Splyce and Vitality will be the teams trying to pull off the upset. Splyce is a moderate underdog against four-time champion G2, while Vitality is a hefty underdog heading into its meeting with No. 1 overall seed Fnatic.

League of Legends EU LCS Spring Split Semifinals Betting Odds

G2 -195
Splyce +165

It hasn’t been the best of seasons for G2. The team that has been the Kings of Europe for two years has had its share of struggles. Four players left in the offseason, but G2 has had the last laugh after those players left for supposedly greener pastures. None of the four that left are playing on teams that are still in the running for a regional title, while G2 has a decent shot of winning its fifth straight championship.

Perkz is still one of the top mid laners in the region, and the team has leaned heavily on him at times this season. He has responded very well, carrying at the times G2 needed him to, and he has the advantage in his matchup against Nisqy. However, Nisqy played extremely well against ROCCAT last week, notching 22 kills and 14 assists against just one death.

In the bottom lane, the advantage goes to Splyce. At this point, we know we are going to get solid play out of Kobbe and kaSing, but the play of G2’s duo of Hjarnan and Wadid has been inconsistent. They have made crucial mistakes at key points in the season, and they can’t slip up here, especially Hjarnan.

The teams are more evenly matched when it comes to the top lane and the jungle. Splyce’s Xerxe has been the best jungler in the EU this year, but G2’s Jankos isn’t too far behind him. Meanwhile, G2’s Wunder has a slight edge on Odoamne, even though Odo has improved greatly over the latter half of the year.

At this price, Splyce is the team to back. G2 won the season series 2-1, but Splyce has looked sharp down the stretch.

Fnatic -312
Team Vitality +256

Most people will be talking about the battle in the mid lane when these teams meet on Saturday. Jiizuke should be a lock to win Rookie of the Split for what he has done on Vitality, and it was his play that largely led the team past H2K. He won all three of the matches in which he played on Taliyah, yet don’t fall into the trap and think that he has a limited champion pool. Jiizuke has looked just as good on Ryze and Zoe this year.

Last year, Caps was seen as the best mid laner in Europe by many. He has had some ups and downs this year, and he has not been as good as he was last year, but he can still carry at times.

Fnatic has pretty sizeable advantages at every other position on the map. Although Vitality’s bottom lane has been good, Rekkles and Hylissang have been easily the best bottom lane in Europe this year, and Fnatic has the edge in the top lane and the jungle too.

If Vitality has any hope to win, it will be with Jiizuke getting on a carry champion and leading the way. Look for Fnatic to not take any chances and have Caps play more safe selections en route to a win.
