League of Legends 2020 LCS Spring Split Week 9 Betting Preview

The final day of the 2020 LCS Spring Split will be full of excitement. Only one team has locked up a playoff spot heading into the final week of the regular season (Cloud9), and only one team has been eliminated from playoff contention (Counter Logic Gaming). The other eight teams are battling it out for the final five playoff spots, and the seeding is very important given the format of this split’s postseason.

League of Legends 2020 LCS Spring Split Week 9 Betting Odds

FlyQuest -286

Golden Guardians +219

There’s a decent chance the Guardians have nothing to play for on Sunday. They need to win on Saturday to even have a shot of making the playoffs, and they must see either 100 Thieves or Immortals lose both of their games to stay in postseason contention.

Meanwhile, FlyQuest are relatively safe, but they want to ensure that they finish in the top four, so they don’t have to play in the elimination game next week. They are underdogs against Team Liquid per the Esports betting odds on Saturday, so this game could be the difference maker.

Although I believe FlyQuest is the weakest team in the top four, they should have a major edge in the bottom lane over the Guardians, and they will exploit that advantage to pick up the win.

Team SoloMid -175

Team Dignitas +139

It’s been a roller coaster of a season for TSM, but the most popular organization in North America is set to make the playoffs once again. They were the only team to knock off Cloud9 so far this split, and they have the most upside of any team outside of C9.

Dignitas are a bit of a mess at the moment, so I believe there is a ton of value in TSM at this price. Huni is having a difficult time making his pocket picks work, and Aphromoo has come back down to Earth after a strong start to the season. Bjergsen has consistently gotten the better of Froggen in the mid lane over their long careers too, making this my favorite play of Week 9.

Evil Geniuses -175

Immortals +139

We’ll see whether Evil Geniuses have really turned a corner this week. EG have won five straight matches coming into the final week of the Spring Split, but four of those victories were against the bottom four teams in the LCS.

Immortals are a great matchup for the Geniuses. Eika can’t punish Jiizuke’s aggressiveness in the mid lane, and Soaz is not the top laner he was two years ago with Fnatic. EG’s bottom lane duo of Bang and Zeyzal is better than Immortals’ duo of Apollo and Hakuho, so lay the chalk with the Geniuses here.

Cloud9 -320

Team Liquid +241

This is the game that everyone will be hyped to see on Sunday. Cloud9 have been the best team in the LCS all season long, and they could keep the winners of the last four LCS titles out of the postseason. Liquid have not been as overpowering as they have been the last two years. Doublelift has struggled with motivation this split, and Impact has not been the difference maker he used to be in the top lane.

With all that said, this is a great time to roll the dice on Liquid. You’ll likely never see them higher than +240 again this year, and this game means the world to them with their postseason hopes on the line.

100 Thieves -230

Counter Logic Gaming +179

100 Thieves will likely be playing for a playoff spot here, while CLG will be looking to play spoiler. The Thieves have progressed nicely in PapaSmithy’s first season as GM of the team, and they are more than just Ssumday and four other players now. Ryoma’s development in the mid lane has been a positive sign, and Cody Sun continues to be solid in the bottom lane. That gives the Thieves the edge.
