League of Legends Betting Predictions

After a week off due to the coronavirus, the LCS is back in action this weekend. Like other League of Legends leagues around the world, the LCS will move to an online format, eschewing the crowds and the studios we’ve grown accustomed to over the last few years. The online format means we could deal with lag and latency issues, but at least we will have the world’s most popular Esport back in action.

League of Legends 2020 LCS Spring Split Week 8 Betting Odds

Team Liquid -165

Evil Geniuses +131

The Geniuses are starting to put it all together. They have won their last three games, and the bottom lane of Bang and Zeyzal has looked strong. It took some time for the AD Carry and support to build up their chemistry as they have two different play styles, but they have found a happy medium between laning and aggression in the early game.

It’s been the opposite story for Team Liquid. The winners of the last four LCS titles are really struggling to come together and could miss the postseason entirely. Doublelift has been upfront about his motivation issues this split, and it feels like something is missing with the reigning champions.

Evil Geniuses knocked off Liquid last month, and this is great value considering how up and down Liquid has been this split.

Team SoloMid -305

Golden Guardians +231

Every single week, TSM has either went 0-2 or 2-0. The long-time organization is coming off its best week of the season in Week 7, as they defeated both FlyQuest and previously undefeated Cloud9 to move into a tie for second place in the standings. Bjergsen has looked as strong as ever in the mid lane, and the bottom lane has been sharp too with Kobbe and Smoothie working well together.

However, there are still some issues in the top lane and jungle. Broken Blade has been hit or miss, while Dardoch has largely continued the revolving door of decent, but not great, junglers the organization has seen in recent years.

Golden Guardians continue to experiment with players switching positions to play support for the organization, and that could give them an edge in this matchup. Former mid laner Huhi has a very deep champion pool, and the Guardians could use his versatility to out-draft TSM in an upset win.

Cloud9 -470

100 Thieves +334

The time has come to fade Cloud9. C9 has already locked up the No. 1 spot in the Spring Split, and the organization will likely use the last two weeks to experiment with new concepts. Reapered is known to break the mold more than any other coach in North America, and he will be happy to try different strategies with first place secured.

That bodes well for the Thieves. This team is talented enough to pull off upsets, and mid laner Ryoma has improved noticeably over the last few weeks. Take the underdog in this game.

Dignitas -145

Counter Logic Gaming +115

This is a must-win game for Dignitas if they are going to make the Spring Split Playoffs. CLG is the worst team in the LCS with a record of 3-11, and Dignitas are two games out of the playoff picture with four games left to play. However, we have seen Dignitas drop nine of their last 11 games after a 3-0 start, so this team is reeling.

Esports Betting

At this price, it’s worth backing Dignitas and trust that they have figured things out over the short break. They have very experienced veterans at four of the five positions, and they still have the talent to smash a team like CLG.

FlyQuest -170

Immortals +135

This is my favorite play of the week. Immortals have fallen off considerably after a hot start to the season. There is no lane you feel confident in them winning with this roster, and even reuniting Apollo and Hakuho shouldn’t make too much of a difference.

Meanwhile, FlyQuest have two players that can win their lane hard in V1per and PowerOfEvil, giving them plenty of flexibility and options in the draft. Although I’m always a little skeptical of a team with WildTurtle, there is much more talent on FlyQuest, and that makes them my play of the week.
