2018 League of Legends Taiwan LMS Summer Split Finals Betting Preview

2018 League of Legends Taiwan LMS Summer Split Finals

Over the last three years, Flash Wolves have been an institution in Taiwanese League of Legends. Flash Wolves have easily been the best team in the region for the duration of that time, winning the league five straight times. They are a heavy favorite coming into their LMS Summer Split Finals tilt with MAD Team on Saturday.

The good news is that both teams have already qualified for the League of Legends World Championships in October. Flash Wolves and MAD Team were the two best teams over the course of both splits, so each team can already make their travel plans for Korea.

2018 League of Legends Taiwan LMS Summer Split Finals Betting Lines

Flash Wolves -1225 MAD Team +725

Although Flash Wolves lost star jungler Karsa to Chinese team Royal Never Give Up at the end of last year, they have strengthened their grip on the LMS. They went 13-1 in the regular season during the Spring Split, with their only loss coming to 12-2 G-Rex. They proved that was a fluke in the postseason though, trouncing G-Rex 3-0 in the Spring Split Finals to earn a spot at the Mid-Season Invitational.

Incredibly, they were even better during the Summer Split regular season. Flash Wolves went undefeated, posting a 14-0 record and dropped just three games all split long. None of those losses came to MAD Team though, making the challengers’ task even tougher.

It’s been a great turnaround story for MAD Team. The squad snuck into the playoffs with a 6-8 record during the Spring Split, and they upset Machi in the first round before bowing out to G-Rex. MAD Team obviously built on that momentum and finished the regular season with a 10-4 record in the Summer Split. They clinched their spot at Worlds last weekend with a 3-0 sweep of J Team in the semifinals in order to make their first final.

Player to Watch

If MAD Team are going to pull off what would be a massive upset, jungler Kongyue will probably be the catalyst. He won plenty of accolades during the Summer Split, being named the Most Improved Player and the First Team All-Pro jungler for the LMS. Kongyue led the team in MVP nods too, and he was named MVP in two of their three postseason games.

Kongyue has something of an advantageous match-up too. MooJin has been good in the jungle for Flash Wolves, but he has not been as reliable as Karsa. Kongyue has been very good on Trundle and Kindred this split, and those two champions are still very much in the meta.

Prediction

Honestly, it would take something crazy for Flash Wolves to not win this series. Even though -1225 is a lot to lay, it’s probably one of the safest bets you will find in League of Legends.

Flash Wolves are significantly better at four of the five positions. MAD Team’s mid laner Uniboy has looked good on certain champions, but he is no match for Maple. Additionally, their bottom lane of Breeze and K is far behind that of Betsy and SwordArt. The top lane match-up is a little less of a mismatch, but Flash Wolves have two quality top laners in MMD and Hanabi, and they can use them interchangeably.

I would be surprised if Flash Wolves even lost a game this series, so lay the chalk with the five-time champions.
