2018 League of Legends NA LCS Summer Split Week 9 Betting Preview

There is just one more playoff spot up for grabs in the NA LCS entering the last week of the regular season. Team SoloMid and OpTic Gaming are the two teams vying for it, and as luck would have it they are meeting in the last game on Saturday. A win for OpTic would guarantee them the spot given their prior victory against TSM earlier in the year. If TSM wins though, they would move a game ahead of OpTic in the standings, but they would need to win again in order to assure themselves of the spot. A TSM loss coupled with an OpTic win in this situation would lead to a tiebreaker being played for the last spot.

2018 League of Legends NA LCS Summer Split Week 9 Betting Lines

Team Liquid -175 Echo Fox +125

Liquid are in the driver’s seat for the top spot in the region heading into the playoffs. They have nearly assured themselves of a bye into the semifinals too, needing either a win in their last two games or a couple losses from other teams to get a week off. The bottom lane of Doublelift and Olleh has been the best in the region with the shift in meta, and Xmithie has looked sharp in the jungle. Echo Fox’s changes a few weeks ago have paid off somewhat, but there are still major concerns in the mid lane.

100 Thieves -120 Cloud9 -120

Reapered has proven a lot of people wrong this split. Cloud9’s head coach was scoffed and laughed at for benching three of the team’s veteran starters right before the split, but that has looked like the right decision after a tough start to the split. Zeyzal has been sharp as a support, and Goldenglue has been a decent mid laner when called on. Cloud9 is red hot, and it’s hard to go against them.

Clutch Gaming -138 Counter Logic Gaming +100

CLG have completely fallen off the map, and you can’t back this team after losing eight straight games. They have looked totally lost with the meta shift, and they have the worst gold differential numbers in the league. Not having any substitutes has proven to be a bad idea, as it seems like some of these players could use a back or some intrasquad scrimmage time. I’ll back Clutch at the low price here.
E-sports Betting Bonus FlyQuest -175 Golden Guardians +125

It continues to amaze me that FlyQuest keep finding ways to win games. Their gold differential numbers are some of the worst in the league, and the advanced metrics really don’t like this team. Although I want to go against them in this spot, I can’t. Golden Guardians have nothing to play for other than pride, and they might decide to mix things up in their penultimate match.

Team SoloMid -175 OpTic Gaming +125

A TSM loss here would effective end the embattled organization’s dynasty. After ruling North America for most of the last few years, TSM have fallen off a ledge this year. The chemistry issues have been talked about ad nauseum, but the level of play has gone down too. TSM can’t even rely on Bjergsen to solo carry in the mid lane anymore, and that’s the case in this matchup. OpTic have been the hotter team over the last few weeks, so I’ll grab them as an underdog.
