2018 League of Legends NA LCS Summer Split Betting Preview

2018 eSports Coverage preview Predictions Lines

The NA LCS Spring Split finally gave us a new champion. After five years where either Team SoloMid, Cloud9, and Counter Logic Gaming reigned supreme at the end of the season, a new champion emerged in April. For once, Team Liquid followed through on the hype and ended up winning the split and representing North America at the Mid-Season Invitational. Liquid will look to repeat during the Summer Split, while the old guard will look to reclaim their old places.

2018 League of Legends NA LCS Summer Split Betting Odds

Team Liquid +275 Team SoloMid +300
Cloud9 +500 Echo Fox +500
100 Thieves +575 Counter Logic Gaming +1000
Clutch Gaming +1250 FlyQuest +5000
OpTic Gaming +10000 Golden Guardians +20000

Doublelift proved that he was the best AD Carry in North America last spring. He was rather unceremoniously dumped by Team SoloMid at the end of last year, and he looked like he carried that on his shoulders throughout the spring. His play in the postseason was exquisite, giving Liquid the title that they had yearned after for so long.

It may take Liquid some time to adapt to the new meta though. The early game is being emphasized after some wholesale changes from Riot, and that will put the pressure on the rest of the team to have winning lanes. That may be difficult for a mid laner like Pobelter. Pobelter shines as a set-up man and in team fights, but he is not known for creating a lot of pressure.

TSM were stunned by Clutch Gaming in the first round of the playoffs, and they will be looking to make amends in the Summer Split. This was supposed to be the superteam that everyone feared, but instead they had some real issues in their first split together.

Zven and mithy were a little underwhelming in the bottom lane. They weren’t as powerful in the laning phase as many expected, and the duo did not always mesh well with Bjergsen in the late game. However, the play of MikeYeung in the jungle was surprisingly bad. He looked out of sports much of the time in team fights, and he was unable to help his lanes out either. His play must improve in summer.

There seem to be major changes on the horizon for Cloud9. The team’s starting lineup for summer was recently announced, and at least initially, Jensen, Sneaky, and Smoothie are relegated to substitute roles. The trio is virtually synonymous with the Cloud9 name, so this team is a major wildcard this split.

Replacing those three will be Goldenglue, Keith, and Zeyzal. Goldenglue was not highly regarded as a mid laner during his time with Liquid, and both Keith and Zeyzal have struggled to make impacts in the past. These changes might just be for this meta but watching Cloud9 make such big moves is something to keep an eye on.

It’s a little surprising to see Clutch Gaming at these odds, especially in this meta. Febiven proved that he was an elite mid laner in the spring, and he can play very well on pushing champions that establish their lane presence. LirA is one of the better junglers in the region too, and Hakuho was phenomenal in his support role in the playoffs. Getting Clutch at over 12-1 is a steal and easily the best bet on the board for the NA LCS Summer Split.
