2018 League of Legends EU LCS Summer Split Week 3 Betting Preview

Even with some of the changes made in Patch 8.12, teams have completely different reads on the meta. While some teams think that funnel strategies are the best, others have continued to run heavy bruiser compositions, and still others have decided to use standard drafts in order to best deal with the intricacies of the most recent changes. It’s created some very interesting dynamics as all three have worked to some extent. This week, we will see if anything has changed pretty quickly with some of the major proponents of these different strategies squaring off early in the week.

2018 League of Legends EU LCS Summer Split Week 3 Betting Lines

Team ROCCAT -150 Giants Gaming +125

ROCCAT has stuck with somewhat traditional compositions, but they have had limited success. The decision to take Hecarim, a champion we hadn’t seen in a long time, into the jungle was disastrous. However, using the old late game scaling compositions with a hypercarry has paid off for the team, with HeaQ sitting at a 7.8 KDA through four matches.

As for Giants Gaming, they have not had a good start to the split. They are sitting at 1-3 and they would be winless if they weren’t able to play bottom feeders H2K. Giants have not had any consistency with their team compositions and are struggling to adapt to this meta in a big way. Mid laner Betsy is doing a whopping 36.6 percent of their damage, while AD Carry Steelback has only been able to do 18.7 percent of the team’s damage. Getting ROCCAT at this price is a steal with this in mind.

Misfits -230 FC Schalke 04 +190

Through the first two weeks of the season, Misfits look like the strongest team in Europe. They were able to take down Fnatic and have blitzed their way through their other three opponents as well. Hans sama has been fantastic in all four of their matches with a 15.5 KDA, and the team is playing through him in the bottom lane. They will likely do so again here.

Schalke are a bit of an unknown quantity. Their two losses have come at the hands of G2 and Fnatic, the other two top teams in the league, so we don’t know just how good they are. They have not gotten good play from the jungle though, and the top lane has been suspect as well. I would love to take them regardless, but this is too short of a price.

Splyce -140 H2K +115

No one expected these two teams to be winless at this point of the season. However, it’s not much of a surprise given the way they have played.

This is not the Splyce I expected by any means. Xerxe has only been able to pick up one pick from the jungle position, and Odoamne is off to another abysmal start. They have really weighed the team down, with Xerxe looking especially awful on Camille in the last match. Still, H2K have been even worse. No one has played well, and no strategy has worked for them to date.

Team Vitality -155 Unicorns of Love +130

Vitality went winless last week and had a gut-wrenching loss to ROCCAT. They were up nearly 7000 gold on their opponent, but they couldn’t get over the hump in the late game with Attila’s Heimerdinger being outclassed by HeaQ’s Ezreal. Vitality should be able to bounce back against Unicorns of Love this week though. Unicorns have not looked good despite their 2-2 record, and they will lose to Vitality in under 30 minutes.

G2 -115 Fnatic -105

This is the match that everyone is dying to see in Week 3. These teams have combined to win all but one EU LCS title, and they are the two favorites once again this split.

It will be very interesting to see what Fnatic runs against G2. They put superstar AD Carry Rekkles on the bench last week in order to funnel things into Caps, and he gave them two wins. To me this is a stay away unless Fnatic decide to do the same thing again this week, and then I’ll be on G2. The funnel strategy won’t work on a solid, balanced team like G2.
