2018 League of Legends EU LCS Summer Split Finals Betting Preview

League of Legends Bets Online

With their win over Misfits last week, Fnatic have clinched a spot at the World Championships. Fnatic won the EU LCS Spring Split championship back in April and advancing to the Summer Split Finals ensured that they had more cumulative points over two splits than any other team in Europe. That earned them one of the three European spots at Worlds no matter the outcome of their series with FC Schalke 04 this Sunday.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Fnatic are going to take this final lightly. Fnatic have won six of the 11 EU LCS titles that have been awarded, and they would love to grab their seventh. Meanwhile, Schalke are looking to grab their first-ever title after only breaking into the EU LCS earlier this year. A win over Fnatic would announce that they are the real deal.

2018 League of Legends EU LCS Summer Split Finals Betting Lines

Fnatic -325 FC Schalke 04 +250

Schalke entered the playoffs on a sour note after dropping a match to H2K that would have earned them the No. 2 seed heading into the postseason and an automatic bye into the semifinals. They narrowly avoided being upset by No. 6 seed Splyce two weeks ago, falling behind 2-1 before rallying to win 3-2, and they were underdogs headed into their clash with Team Vitality last week.

Surprisingly, Schalke had little trouble getting past Vitality, snowballing early advantages into wins in an incredibly bloody series. There was an average of over 30 kills a game despite no game going longer than 36 minutes, and it will be interesting to see whether that aggressiveness holds against Fnatic.

Fnatic were the best team all throughout the regular season, and they were heavy favorites to get past Misfits. They did not disappoint in a relatively thorough 3-1 series win. Each game in the series was decided inside of 33 minutes, and that was a bit surprising considering AD Carry Rekkles continually drafted late-scaling champions. He took Tristana twice and Sivir twice in the series, posting a combined 7.0 KDA.

Matchup to Watch

Last week, I highlighted the jungle match between Amazing and Kikis in my preview of Schalke and Vitality. I’m going to do the same thing this week and discuss the match-up between Amazing and Broxah.

Amazing played very well last week, taking Skarner, Poppy, and Trundle into the jungle. The Poppy pick was a bust, but he was good enough on Skarner for Vitality to ban the champion away from him over the last two games of the series. That’s an encouraging sign considering how dependent he was on Sejuani during the regular season. However, his effective champion pool is still pretty shallow, especially compared to Broxah.

Broxah has been great all throughout the Summer Split, and he played very well against Misfits last week. He looked strong on Skarner and Trundle, and he led all players with a 7.8 KDA. He was the difference maker the last time these teams met, having a fantastic outing on Nocturne, and Broxah has gotten the better of Amazing throughout their careers.

Prediction

I want to believe in Nukeduck and Upset. I really do. However, Fnatic have the titles, and Caps has been playing out of his mind. I don’t see Nukeduck outdueling Caps or Upset outdueling Rekkles, and without that there is little hope of Schalke pulling off the upset.
