For Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes the fight is a dream come true and a win would take away the bitter taste of past championship failures.
“It’s been my dream to fight Cecilia and I can’t wait to fight her,” said Lopes. “She is the best women’s fighter in the world and has been for many years but on December 8 I will be up to the challenge and come out victorious with her titles.”
HBO has covered boxing for 45 years and wanted to wind down its coverage in style. They certainly began with great fanfare when they televised the world heavyweight championship bout between Georgia Foreman and Joe Frazier all the way back in 1973.
Braekhus recalled that her last bout on HBO was very exciting.
