Jean Pascal (34-6-1, 20 knockouts)

In his last five fights, Pascal has three wins and two losses. He defeated Ahmed Elbiali by TKO in the sixth round, Steve Bossé by TKO in the eighth round, and Marcus Browne by technical decision in the eighth round; while losing to Eleider Álvarez by majority decision and Dmitry Bivol by unanimous decision. Pascal gets a knockout win 47.62% of the time.

Pascal said this to journaldemontreal.com about his upcoming bout against Jack, “Badou Jack is not an extraordinary boxer. He doesn't have a (Sergey) Kovalev-style strike force, he doesn't have a Marcus Browne or Roy Jones speed, but on the other hand, he does everything well. He is good technically, he has a good strike force, a good speed, but nothing exceptional. He is a boxer who is technically and defensively strong, and it will be important for me to be well prepared to take on this challenge.”

Badou Jack (22-2-3, 13 knockouts)

In his last five fights, Jack has two wins, two draws, and one loss. He defeated Lucian Bute by disqualification and Nathan Cleverly by TKO in the fifth round; while losing to Marcus Browne by unanimous decision; and fighting a draw to James DeGale by majority draw and Adonis Stevenson by majority draw. Jack gets a knockout win 48.15% of the time.

Jack said this to maxboxing.com about his upcoming bout against Pascal, “Mentally I’m better than I’ve ever been. I’m hungrier and I feel like I did the first time I fought for the title. I’m always hungry, but I’m really excited for this fight. Sometimes losses make you better. My first loss was an accident, and I became better because of it. The loss to Marcus Browne, it wasn’t the fairest loss, but it’s made me even hungrier. I’m going to go out there and win the fight no matter what. People have written Pascal off a couple of times and he always came back. He’s a throwback fighter who definitely knows how to fight. He brings it every time. He’s got more mileage than me, but I can’t overlook a guy like him. I’m ready to do whatever it takes to win the fight. I feel 100% physically. The cut was cleared in March, and we’re way past that. The break between fights and bouncing back from a loss have made me more motivated than ever. I’m ready to go in and give the best performance of my career.”

Boxing Picks

Neither Pascal nor Jack has been that impressive lately and it is hard to get too excited about taking either one of them. What we do know is that neither of them has a great deal of power, so this is a fight that should go the distance. I will avoid a side and just take the rounds to go over the total.

Boxing Pick: Fight goes to a decision, rounds going over the total.
