Incredibly enough Davis has been training at the Upton Boxing Center since he was a tender five years of age. Davis is a past champion of the National Golden Gloves and was also a three-time winner of the National Silver Gloves. Among his other accomplishments he is a two-time National Junior Olympic gold medal winner and posted two Ringside World Championships.

Davis has a perfect career record of 19-0 with 18 of his wins coming by knockout. In his last bout on August 26, 2017 Davis scored an eighth-round knockout win over Francisco Fonseca at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout was scheduled for 12 rounds. Davis did not make weight which made him ineligible for the vacant International Boxing Federation World Super Featherweight title that was supposed to be on the line in the fight.

On May 20, 2017 Davis scored a technical knockout win over Liam Walsh in the third round of a scheduled 12 round bout that took placed at Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick. Walsh went down from a hard-overhand left shot in the third round. As a result of the win Davis won the International Boxing Federation World Super Featherweight title.

The 31-year-old Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar is a past World Boxing Association featherweight champion from 2015-2016. A native of Jose C. Paz, Buenos Aires, Argentina he still resides there. Cuellar has a career record of 28 wins with two losses. He has posted 21 knockout wins while suffering just one knockout loss in his career.

Cuellar has had a long layoff since his last bout on December 10, 2016 when he lost a 12-round split decision to Abner Mares at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles. The bout was for the World Boxing Association World Featherweight title.
