Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr is 28 years of age and is ranked second in the world. Spence has a career record of 23-0-0 and has posted a total of 20 knockout wins for his career. Spence is a native of Long Island, New York and resides in Desoto, Texas. Spence fights from a southpaw stance.

Spence has been a highly regarded champion at many different levels in his career. As an amateur he won three consecutive United States national championships and had the high honor of representing the USA at the 2012 Olympic games. At the Olympics that year Spence reached the quarter finals of the welterweight division. He is ranked as the eighth best pound for pound boxer in the world by The Ring magazine. Transnational Boxing Rankings Board also considers Spence as the eighth best pound for pound fighter on Earth.

Spence won the United States national Golden Gloves and three consecutive national amateur Welterweight championships from 2009 to 2011. All of those titles were in the Welterweight class. In 2011 Spence reached the World Championships where he was defeated by Serik Sapiyev in the quarter finals. In November of 2012 Spence made his professional debut and by 2015 garnered attention as one of the top up and coming fighters in any class.

Errol Spence Jr won the International Boxing Federation World Welterweight title on May 27, 2017 when he scored an 11th round knockout win over Kell Brook in a scheduled 12 round bout that took place at Bramall Lane Football Ground in Sheffield. Spence knocked Brook down in both the 10th and 11th rounds.

Spence successfully defended his International Boxing Federation World Welterweight title on January 20, 2018 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn against Lamont Peterson. Spence won an RTD in the seventh round of a scheduled 12 round bout in which Peterson was knocked down in the fifth round.

Ocampo has a record of 22-0 and has posted 13 knockout wins. This is far and away the biggest and most important bout of his career.

Boxing Betting Tips

This is a mandatory title defense bout for Spence as ordered by the International Boxing Federation last January. Ocampo received the first invite to be the challenger to Spence’s title. Since Ocampo was not ranked in the top two of the International Boxing Organization rankings he would be entitled to just 15% of the purse instead of the usual 25% cut for the challenger. That right there is indicative of Spence’s status as the overwhelming chalk for this bout. While the price is expected to be astronomical, the chances of Ocampo scoring an upset are considered to be even more remote.
