NBA Saturday, February 11 Parlay Picks

Playing a parlay card works in other sports as well. With the close of the NFL season following Super Bowl LVII we can turn our attention to another popular betting sport: basketball, in particular the NBA. With a third of the regular season remaining the races are tightening up in both conferences with a bunch of teams battling for postseason positioning. We can say with certainty that only a handful of teams are out of the running. That leaves roughly 13 teams in each conference vying for the 10 postseason spots, and clubs would like to avoid the play-in scenario if possible.

With games taking on more importance another thing to consider when wagering on the NBA is how teams approach the trade deadline. We saw the Dallas Mavericks make a move to upgrade for a push in the West by acquiring Kyrie Irving. And that will certainly affect the Nets, who are still without Kevin Durant. Brooklyn lost two straight after the deal was announced but they covered the spread in both games improving to 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games. The Nets host Philadelphia on Saturday with the Sixers playing the second game of a back-to-back. Before we put down our NBA parlay bets we need to know what teams are playing.

NBA Parlay Picks for Saturday, February 11, 2023

Philadelphia 76ers at Brooklyn Nets

When one door closes another one opens, as the saying goes. The Nets closed the door on Irving shipping him to Dallas allowing Cam Thomas to play a more prominent role. And Thomas has taken advantage of the increased playing time notching 43 points in a 116-112 loss to the Suns, his third straight game with more than 40 points. The Nets didn’t win but they did cover the 7-point spread for their third consecutive payout and eighth in 10 games. The Nets will have reinforcements for the showdown with Philly on Saturday with Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie, acquired in the Irving deal, scheduled to participate. The Sixers are playing the second of a back to back and for the third time in four nights with it being common for them to rest Joel Embiid and/or James Harden in those situations. I’ll back the home team on the moneyline in that case.

Denver Nuggets at Charlotte Hornets

The Western Conference is a jumbled mess after top-seeded Denver. The Nuggets are running away from the pack behind two-time MVP Nikola Jokic and are close to overtaking Boston with the best record in the NBA. One thing that has prevented them from becoming the top team in the league is their play on the road. Despite being 19 games over .500 the Nuggets have a losing record in away games and visit Charlotte in the middle of a three-game Eastern Conference swing. A poor overall road record and just a 10-6 ledger against the East have me leaning toward the Hornets and the points on my parlay card.

LA Lakers at Golden State Warriors

What’s left for LeBron James now that he’s the NBA’s all-time leading scorer? Well, making the playoffs would be a start. Even with James dropping points the Lakers are struggling sitting two games behind Utah for 10th in the West after a 133-130 loss to OKC on Tuesday. We’ve seen LA putting up points since the return of Anthony Davis and the breakthrough of Thomas Bryant. With Stephen Curry sidelined the Warriors turned to Klay Thompson to keep the offense humming. And while he’s been inconsistent this season, Thompson can light it up with the best. Klay hit 12 triples scoring 42 points in a win over OKC on Monday giving the Dubs two straight wins since Curry was shelved. In those games they averaged 130 points cashing the OVER both times. The Warriors have the best OVER percentage in the NBA at 61.5 and the teams have exceeded the point total in five straight meetings giving me the confidence to back the OVER on a parlay.
