NBA March 8 Parlay Picks

Unfortunately, I missed on another parlay over the weekend. I was right in that the Los Angeles Clippers would break their losing streak against the Memphis Grizzlies, and the NBA betting odds substantially moved in our favor the day before the game due to the suspensions of Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks. However, the Clips nearly lost this game too as the Grizzlies had a 51-point third quarter but were outscored by 21 points in the final frame to lose by six.

The Orlando Magic let me down for the other leg of my NBA parlay. Orlando made 50% of their shots from the floor on the night against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, but Damian Lillard exploded for 41 points. Lillard closed out the Magic by making 17 of 20 free throw, resulting in Orlando failing to cover the number as a short favorite by the basketball betting line.

The Los Angeles Clippers finally stopped the bleeding against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night, and they have the next two days off before they take on the Toronto Raptors at home on Wednesday night. Toronto is one game below .500 and just 12-20 on the road this season, but the Raptors are the right play here.

The Raptors have won seven of their last ten games, and they went 8-3 in the month of February. Everyone expected Masai Ujiri to trade away multiple players prior to the deadline, but Toronto went the other way and stood fast while re-acquiring Jakob Poeltl from San Antonio. It looks like the Raptors have answered the call and are playing well for Nick Nurse once again, while the LA Clippers are still in disarray despite their win over Memphis.

LA had lost five straight games since the All-Star Break. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are playing well, but the addition of Russell Westbrook has been a disaster. The way that Golden State and other teams have played off him and dared him to shoot has shown just how much this offense can struggle if he isn’t hitting his jumpers, and Nurse will have something imaginative to use against Westbrook too.

Cleveland is the other team to back on Wednesday night, and the Cavaliers will likely be a very short road underdog against the Miami Heat. Miami is 20-12 at home and 5.5 games behind Cleveland in the Eastern Conference, but the Heat have been extremely fortunate. They have a negative point differential, and they have the worst offense in the league by a mile. Miami is averaging 108.1 PPG while every other team is averaging 110 PPG or more this season.

Meanwhile, Cleveland is the only team with better defensive numbers than Miami, and the Cavaliers can score too. Darius Garland is an extremely talented point guard that almost always makes the right decision with the ball, and Donovan Mitchell has given this team a veteran shooter that isn’t afraid of the big moments.

The Cavaliers have been pretty streaky this season and are currently in the midst of a downturn. They did split their two games with the Heat at home this year, but Cleveland’s guards will dominate and that will give the Cavaliers a victory.
