NBA Sunday, March 24, 2024 Parlay Picks

A six-game slate on Sunday, March 24 puts an end to the NBA betting week and with only a few weeks remaining in the 2023-24 season time is getting short to build another winning NBA parlay. There are several interesting matchups, including a tilt between two of the top teams in the league. The Oklahoma City Thunder have been lingering around the top of the Western Conference all season battling Denver and Minnesota for the No. 1 seed. OKC has also been a good bet getting the cash in nearly 60 percent of its games, the second-best cover rate in the NBA. OKC visits the East’s No. 2 team Milwaukee in the first NBA TV game at 7 p.m. ET.

The day gets started with a 3 p.m. ET matinee between the red-hot New Orleans Pelicans and the Detroit Pistons. This will be the third game in four days for the Pels, who conclude a four-game road trip. Their 22 road wins through 68 games is the second-most in the West and they’ve earned payouts in more than 60 percent of their away contests. Looking to remain among the top six in the East, the Philadelphia 76ers have a matchup with the LA Clippers facing former employee James Harden for the first time. This is the first of two meetings a three-day span. The day concludes with the Lakers hosting Indiana in the second NBA TV game.

I’m probably sounding like a broken record when I say I came close to hitting a three-team NBA parlay last week. Well, I almost hit a three-teamer last week. I backed the Nuggets in their matchup with Dallas and if not for a ridiculous off-hand floater from Kyrie Irving that beat the buzzer, who knows. Denver was laying 1-point and fell 107-105 on Irving’s heroics. That ruined what otherwise was a decent day. The Celtics easily beat Washington as a 14.5-point favorite and Milwaukee was better than Phoenix. Now it’s on to another week.

The miserable season for the Pistons got worse when the club recently announced Ausar Thompson and Isaiah Stewart would miss the remainder of the season. When you have just 12 wins in 68 games it makes no sense to put players at risk. Both were averaging double figures and losses deplete an already thin – and not very good – group. This is a trap situation for the Pels, who play their third game in four nights and wrap up a road trip. If they are serious about contending this is a game they need to win, and I’m betting they do comfortably.

You have to believe James Harden will be extra motivated when his Clippers battle the Sixers. That fiasco leading to his trade earlier in the season will likely ignite Philly as well. Joel Embiid has some words about his former teammate at the time of the deal, but he won’t be on the floor. And since his departure the Sixers have struggled. I expect Harden to have a big game leading LA to a payout win over his former squad.

As the Bucks worked on repairing a defense that was one of the worst in the NBA under former coach Adrian Griffin, the offense also took a hit. It’s hard to keep a team that has Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard down for long, though. The team reclaimed some of its offensive potency in a 140-129 win over Phoenix the third time in five games the Bucks topped 120 points. And the Thunder boasts one of the most efficient offenses in the NBA behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. This has the potential to be a shootout and has me backing the OVER.
