NBA Friday, November 17 Parlay Picks

Man, if I didn’t have bad luck I’d have no luck at all. For the third straight week I missed hitting a three-team NBA parlay by a point or less, just adding to the frustration. We’re less than a month into the 2023-24 NBA season and already I’ve had enough suspense and drama for an entire campaign. I’ve been dialed in with most of my picks just missing in one of the games. Last week it was the Philadelphia at Detroit matchup that did me in. I backed the visitors at -9 watching the Sixers slowly chip away at a 12-point first quarter deficit to lead by as many as 17 points. However, they couldn’t maintain that intensity eventually winning the game 114-106. Philly and Detroit are both in action on Friday, Nov. 17 as part of an 11-game slate giving us plenty of NBA parlay card options.

Winning 66.7 percent of your bets is usually worth something. But if you’re playing a parlay you better make sure they all win on the same ticket. I was laying 12 points with the Celtics in their Atlantic Division clash with Brooklyn and watched Boston hold on for a 121-107 triumph. I also picked a good time to back the OVER in the Clippers at Dallas contest with each team scoring a season-high point total in the Mavs’ 144-126 victory to easily get me another winning pick.

This isn’t a bet on the Knicks rather more of a bet against the Wizards. With just two wins in their first 10 games Washington has proven prognosticators right at least in the early going. Most NBA experts had the Wizards languishing at the bottom of the standings and they’ve taken their rightful place, ahead of only Detroit in the Eastern Conference. While they’ve been about average on offense, the Wizards are near the bottom of the defensive rankings allowing nearly 123 points per game during their 2-10 start. That should allow New York scorers Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson to feast. And we’re likely to see R.J. Barrett back in the lineup giving the Knickerbockers another scorer to cover the line.

We have yet to see the Suns at full strength as injuries to Bradley Beal and Devin Booker have kept them off the floor for long stretches of time. It appears as though both are getting close with Friday’s contest at Utah a target date. Even without one or both of those guys on the floor the Suns have scored the basketball with Kevin Durant leading the way. And the clubs exceeded the total in an earlier matchup when Booker and Beal were shelved giving me confidence to once again support the OVER.

The San Antonio Spurs get their home game with Sacramento on the ESPN airwaves so the network can showcase Victor Wembanyama the No. 1 overall pick in the most recent draft. And why not since he leads the team in scoring, rebounding and blocks while playing 30 minutes a night and has already been handed the Rookie of the Year trophy. The personnel around him, though, leaves something to be desired and as a result the Spurs have just three wins in their first 11 games while going 4-7 ATS. The Kings got a boost with the return of De’Aaron Fox, who dropped 28 on the Cavs to extend their winning streak to three after the club lost three in a row right after Fox was sidelined. Sac’s balance and depth will offset what Wembanyama does.
