NBA Friday, December 1 Parlay Picks

As we venture into the final month of the year and Christmas waiting at the back end, now’s a good time to secure some cash for those gifts that need to be purchased. One week after hitting a three-team NBA parlay my heater ended abruptly with two losses on last week’s ticket. As the Boston Celtics, owners of the league’s best record will tell you, it’s hard to win them all. And the Detroit Pistons, with two wins through their first 17 games will say you can’t lose ‘em all either. The first Friday in December also happens to be the first day of the month with a light schedule on tap featuring six games to make a multi-team NBA parlay. There is a huge Eastern Conference showdown between the Celtics and Philadelphia that will air on ESPN. With just a 4-6 road record, the defending champion Nuggets have fallen from the top spot in the West and travel to Phoenix for the first meeting between Western Conference favorites.

The teams I picked on last Friday’s parlay won but failed to cover the closing line. Milwaukee was giving Washington 13.5 points and survived a scare in their 131-128 victory. Landry Shamet missed an open triple in the waning seconds that would’ve tied the game. I also backed the Warriors at -10 in their home tilt with San Antonio. The Spurs never conceded rallying from a 15-point deficit with less than three minutes to play to get within four. They never got closer, though, in the 118-112 setback. It doesn’t mean squat but I avoided an 0-3 day when Detroit and Indiana went over the total of 247 in the Pacers 136-113 triumph.

NBA Parlay Picks for Friday, December 1, 2023

Orlando ATS

Boston ATS

Denver / Phoenix OVER

Payout: $100 to win $599

Playing the same team in consecutive games is difficult, unless your opponent is Washington. I say that facetiously of course, but it isn’t far from the truth. The Wizards are in a rebuild and they’re experiencing the pain of losing a lot of games that comes with it. Orlando, meanwhile, is off to its best start in two decades finally emerging from a makeover three years in the making. The Magic are the hottest team in the NBA with a 130-117 win over Charlotte their seventh straight. They’ve also been quite profitable with payouts in all seven of those games and a 14-3 ATS record.

One of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, the Wizards will have a hard time containing Paolo Banchero, who averages 19.8 points, and the Wagner brothers. Franz averages 19.5 while Mo chips in 12.5. The Magic are solid defensively as well among the top five in points allowed and efficiency rating. I’ll back the Magic laying the points.

It’s never a good idea to go against the Celtics on the parquet floor, so I’m not. Boston extended its season-opening home winning streak to eight taking down the Bulls 124-97 on Tuesday. They’re also 6-1 ATS in their last seven home matches. The teams split two games in Philly earlier this season and the Cs are looking for some separation atop the East standings. And there’s a good chance Kristaps Porzingis is back in the lineup after he missed a few games.

We should see plenty of offense in the Denver at Phoenix game as long as the teams have some players in the lineup. Playing without Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, the Nuggets rallied to beat the Clippers 113-104. The Suns have rarely fielded their entire roster with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal dealing with injuries earlier in the season. Kevin Durant missed a few games recently with foot soreness, but all the ailments aren’t considered serious and in this mega matchup we’ll likely see the stars. And that means more points to cash the OVER.
