NBA Odds - Oklahoma City Thunder at New Orleans Pelicans

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s slow start to the season seems like a long time ago, as they have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past several weeks. The Thunder has zoomed up near the top of the Western Conference standings and will look to keep it rolling this week against the New Orleans Pelicans.

New Orleans is going the other way and needs to turn it around in order to have a shot at the playoffs in a crowded Western Conference. The Pelicans are at home in this matchup but the Thunder is more talented so this could be a pretty competitive showdown.

There is no clear-cut main challenger to the Golden State Warriors at this point in the season and Oklahoma City would love to claim that title. It will aim for another solid victory against the Pelicans in NBA betting.

This NBA basketball game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans will be held at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana at 8 p.m ET on Wednesday, December 12th, 2018. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Odds Analysis

The Thunder has a record of 16-8 on the season and has won seven of its past 10 games. Oklahoma City has gone 7-5 on the road on the year.

The Pelicans are 13-14 on the season but there is a great disparity between their home and road records, and luckily they are at home in this one. New Orleans has won 10 of its 14 home games on the year in NBA gambling.

Player To Watch

Anthony Davis -- The Thunder has one of the best guards in the NBA in Russell Westbrook and the Pelicans boast arguably the best big man in Davis. Oklahoma City has a better supporting cast so Davis will need to dominate to help his team to a victory.

His numbers are phenomenal once again this season, as the New Orleans center is averaging 27.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.9 blocks per game. Davis might not get the same type of national love as some other players because he isn’t on a perennial contender, but make no bones about it: he might be the best player in the league at this point.

Oklahoma City does not have a big man that figures to have a legitimate shot at slowing down Davis in this matchup.

Key Stat

3. That’s the shot Paul George tried to hit at the buzzer against the Bulls last time, but it missed and the team fell by a score of 114-112. It ended Oklahoma City’s four-game winning streak and was a pretty poor loss considering Chicago is not a good team.

However, it was a mere blip and the Thunder should be able to shake it off as they aim to get back on track in this one. The Western Conference figures to be a hard-fought battle throughout the year and the Thunder needs to win its fair share of close games in order to finish with a high seed.

Free NBA ATS Picks

The Thunder has the better team but not by a huge margin. The home court advantage should tip the scales in favor of the Pelicans in this one. Davis should dominate and will help lead his team to a much-needed win over the Thunder in NBA gambling.

The West is going to be like this all year with the teams beating up on each other. The Pelicans could really use this victory after a recent lull and should claim it.
