The Xavier Musketeers will be happy to be back on their home court. A two-game road trip did not go well for the Musketeers, with Xavier losing by nine to Providence before getting routed by 24 against Villanova on Wednesday night....
Neither the Notre Dame Fighting Irish or the North Carolina Tar Heels are where they want to be right now. Although both are in relatively good shape and look like they are locks to make the NCAA Tournament, both teams have had their struggles in recent weeks. However, while Notre Dame’s revolve around losing their best player, North Carolina’s are more endemic. The Tar Heels have just not looked the same as they did during their title run last year....
What has gotten into the Michigan State Spartans? Michigan State looked like the best team in the country after it pummeled North Carolina and Notre Dame in consecutive games at the end of November. The Spartans dominated a weak schedule in December and was ranked No. 1 when the new year started....
The VCU Rams and Dayton Flyers were the two best teams in the Atlantic 10 last season. Although Rhode Island won the conference tournament, VCU and Dayton were the two best teams all year long and much was expected from them this year. Unfortunately, neither team is performing as their fans hoped....
The Utah Utes are looking to break a losing streak when they head to LA to take on the UCLA Bruins on Thursday night. Utah lost to both Arizona schools last week. The loss to the Wildcats was a little more out of this team’s reach, but the Utes were in there every step of the way against Arizona State this weekend. As for UCLA, the Bruins continue to pick up easy wins against the easier teams in the PAC 12 North and are looking to move to 4-1 in conference play....
The Ohio State Buckeyes are still riding high after their most recent victory. Ohio State served notice to the rest of the Big Ten that it was not to be taken lightly after an upset win over Michigan State last weekend. The Buckeyes easily handled the Spartans, getting out to a 12-point lead in the first half, and holding on the rest of the way for a very convincing win. They have one more home game before a three-game road swing next week, and will look to knock off the Maryland Terrapins....
Man is Big East basketball fun. The Big East is full of great teams that can knock any other opponent off if they are having an off night. There is only one undefeated team in conference left already after just three games of action....
The Purdue Boilermakers are the hottest team in the Big Ten. Purdue has been on fire lately. The school has won 11 straight games and is off to a very nice start in conference play. The Boilermakers have wiped the floor with all comers and might just upset the apple cart and usurp preseason favorite Michigan State. A tough road test awaits when they face the other team from The Mitten State. The Michigan Wolverines are 9-0 at home this year and looking to stay unblemished....
Athens is buzzing with the hype of another SEC game in a different sport this week, but don’t sleep on the Georgia Bulldogs basketball team. Georgia is looking like an actual contender and might just make the NCAA Tournament for the third time this decade. The Bulldogs have an elite scorer in Yante Maten and some good role players too....
Times are not good for basketball in the Steel City. The Pittsburgh Panthers have bottomed out since Jamie Dixon left two years ago. Kevin Stallings has not been the answer and has feuded with everyone during the team’s struggles. Pittsburgh has been unable to win a game in conference play and will be big underdogs for its next game too. The Duke Blue Devils are coming to town and looking to avenge a loss to NC State....
The Kansas Jayhawks’ reign atop the Big 12 may be coming to an end. It’s been a tough season already for the Jayhawks. Although they are 12-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12, they have been vulnerable on their home court, losing twice there already this season. Kansas is about to play some of the conference’s heavyweights and will need to make sure it performs well in those games. Before it does that, the Jayhawks must best the Iowa State Cyclones....
The West Virginia Mountaineers look like the best team in the Big 12 early on and one of the best in the country. They will aim to keep their foot on the gas pedal this week when they host the Baylor Bears....
The Texas A&M Aggies’ great non-conference start has not translated to SEC play. Texas A&M has lost the first three games in conference and it doesn’t get any easier this week as it must hit the road for a showdown against perennial SEC favorite the Kentucky Wildcats....
The Villanova Wildcats are one of the best teams in the country but have some work to do to get back atop the Big East. Villanova lost an early conference game to fellow power Xavier, and needs to pick up some wins to climb up the standings.The Wildcats will aim to take care of business this week when they host the Marquette Golden Eagles. While Villanova is the superior team, Marquette has been playing well of late and would love to pull the upset....
The TCU Horned Frogs have been one of the most pleasant surprises in college basketball this season. They can turn even more heads this week as they prepare for a huge clash against the Kansas Jayhawks.Kansas has regularly dominated the Big 12 but the Horned Frogs are looking like a legitimate foe. TCU gets the home court advantage in this matchup and would love to pick up a critical conference win....

Michigan State has gotten off to a strong start in Big Ten play and will aim to add another conference victory in a road game against the Ohio State Buckeyes.Ohio State has done well this season and should have a frenzied home court behind it, so this is one of the most likely losses Michigan State could face in conference play. However, the Spartans come in playing so well that they should be sizable favorites to take care of business....

The Indiana Hoosiers have not gotten off to a great start under first-year head coach Archie Miller. It takes time to build a program the way you want it, but the early results from Miller have not been good. The Hoosiers did get a nice win over Notre Dame, however, they also lost to in-state minnows like Indiana State and Fort Wayne. Indiana is currently at 8-7 and looking to stay above .500. That will be a tall task when it travels to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers this week....
Don’t look now, but the Oklahoma Sooners might be set to upset the apple cart in the Big 12. Kansas has won at least a share of the regular season title in every year since 2005, but the Sooners are looking like the team to beat in the conference this season. Superstar freshman Trae Young has led a resurgence in Norman, and Oklahoma has already won more games than it did all of last season. The Sooners will be taking on another one of the conference contenders on Saturday when they square off against the West Virginia Mountaineers....
The Florida Gators had a bumpy non-conference schedule but gave won their first two in SEC play. That pits them atop the conference standings and they will aim to stay there as a matchup against the Missouri Tigers awaits next time out....

It hasn’t been the best start to the season for the Wisconsin Badgers, but this team has shown a lot of resiliency. Despite being riddled with injuries in the backcourt, Wisconsin was able to gut out a big win against Indiana on Tuesday night and move to 2-1 in Big Ten play. Ethan Happ has put the team on his back during this most recent stretch, and that will be who the Rutgers Scarlet Knights need to shut down in order to beat the Badgers on Friday night....
The Michigan State Spartans are the team to beat in the Big Ten. After an early season loss to Duke, this team has crushed the competition and beaten every other team it has faced by at least 10 points. Michigan State recently moved up to No. 1 in the AP poll following Villanova’s loss to Butler over the weekend and looks set to grab one of the four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans will be facing an injury-depleted Maryland Terrapins squad on Thursday night....
