Texas Longhorns +2500

I love the value were getting with the Longhorns right now with Marcus Carr and his mates offering up more than they did at the outset of the regular season. Texas closing the season in a bit of a rut has much to do with that after dropping back-to-back games at Baylor and TCU which prevented it from winning at least a share of Big 12 regular season bragging rights. That being said, the team still went out and showed how dominant it can be by pasting Kansas in the regular season finale. Currently ranked in the top-10 by the Pomeroy Ratings, top-20 efficiency ratings at each end of the court relays to me that we must own shares of this team going into the Dance.

UConn Huskies +2500

The Huskies are another team to target before the Big Dance tips off as hot Dan Hurley’s kids have been over the last three weeks. Remember, Adama Sonogo and his mates were the toast of the town at the outset of the season after rattling off 14 straight wins in which they covered the closing college basketball odds all but once. Then they fell off the map only to rediscover their mojo when it mattered most. We’re dealing with one of the more balanced teams in the nation that currently ranks No. 4 at KenPom. Should the Huskies go on to win the Big East tournament, their odds of cutting down the nets in the Madness will get slashed – BUY NOW!

Arkansas Razorbacks +5000

We’ll need Eric Musselman’s Hogs to qualify for the tournament first to have any shot of reaping the rewards of this offering. As it stands right now, Nick Smith Jr. and Co. clock in as the No. 9 seed in the East Region per Joe Lunardi’s most recent installment of Bracketology. If they fall to Auburn in the Second Round of the SEC tourney, it’s possible Arkansas falls out of contention for a bid. I’ll bank on them showing up and at least advancing to the quarters to oppose a Texas A&M squad it nearly swept in the regular season. The Hogs have been tremendous at the defensive end of the court all season. Should the offense round into form when it matters most, Arkansas will be dangerous and tough to overcome in the Field of 68.

San Diego State +10000

As long as I can remember, the Aztecs defense is what set it apart from almost every team. That once again remains the story for Brian Dutcher’s kids in 2022-23 with the team owners of the 12th best defensive efficiency in the land. The unit concedes fewer than 65 points per game No. 37, locks down the 3-point arc No. 15, and does a solid job hitting the glass at both ends of the court. But this year’s team has a new wrinkle with it actually being able to score the basketball 72.9 PPG. Matt Bradley 13.0 PPG is joined by Seattle transfer Darrion Trammell 9.8 PPG to form one of the better guard duos in the Mountain West. With Nathan Mensah clogging the paint 5.8 RPG/1.5 BPG, SDST looks to have the personnel capable of busting brackets.

West Virginia +12500

Alright, I’m finally buying into Huggy Bear’s Mountaineers! I could never put my finger on why West Virginia was smiled upon by every analytics site over the course of the regular season as bad the team looked in the W/L column – now I get it! That four-game run at the tail end of the regular season paired with the first round beat down of Texas Tech in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament only bolsters my stance that it’s better late than never. Erik Stevenson, Tre Mitchell, Kedrian Johnson, and Emmitt Matthews have caught fire down the stretch which leads me to believe we’re all going to want shares of this squad in our portfolio once the NCAA tournament tips off. At the very least, we’ll make a beer money investment and see where it takes us!
