College Basketball Betting – Monday Best Bets

College Basketball Betting

As we head into the final weeks of the college basketball regular season, there is plenty still to be decided in several conferences. There is a logjam at the top of the Big 12 with Kansas State narrowly holding down first place, though the Wildcats are being chased by several teams all within a game of the leaders. K-State looks to remain on top by knocking off West Virginia. We also have a rivalry matchup in the ACC when the Virginia Cavaliers visit Virginia Tech in an ACC tilt.

Wisconsin has slipped down the Big Ten standings and possibly out of the national rankings after dropping two straight. A few weeks ago a matchup with the Illini looked like a slam dunk. Not any longer. Illinois enters this matchup having won four in a row knocking off Michigan State and Ohio State in the run. And first place is on the line in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference when North Carolina A&T visits Norfolk State.

BookMaker.eu will have college basketball odds and live betting options for every game on the Monday schedule.

Monday Best Bets

Virginia ( -6, 121.5 ) at Virginia Tech

The line on this game has gone up 2.5-points since hitting the board, but I still like the Cavs to cover on the road. UVA bounced back nicely from a loss to Duke last week, knocking off North Carolina on the road and throwing its defensive blanket over one of the nation’s top scoring teams. The Cavs did it again on Saturday, limiting Notre Dame in another victory.

The Hokies are in the thick of the ACC race, but without one of their top scorers in Justin Robinson, they won’t find the points to win this one. UVA dropped the hammer in the first meeting, slapping 81 points on the Hokies in an easy 22-point victory. It may not be that easy on the road, but with Ty Jerome, Kyle Guy and De’Andre Hunter playing at a high level, the Cavs are the best bet with the teams exceeding the low total of 121.5.

Kansas State ( -7.5 ) at West Virginia

Both teams are dealing with injuries to key personnel. The difference is that the Wildcats have continued to win. And they shouldn’t have a problem with the Mountaineers, who have stunk up the gym this season. Playing in the ultra competitive Big 12 with a shortened roster is asking for trouble and WVU has gotten just that. Two players were dismissed from the team last week leaving WVU with only nine healthy scholarship players.

In their last three games the Mountaineers have lost by 25, 22 and 31 points and haven’t been competitive. The inexperienced group will take more lumps before things get better and the Wildcats could use a patsy after losing the last time out. They also lost preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Dean Wade to a foot injury. He joins Cartier Diarra on the shelf, but the Wildcats have enough to overcome those losses, especially against WVU.

Illinois at Wisconsin ( -11 )

There is reason for optimism in Champaign thanks to a four-game winning streak that has seen the in-season development of the team’s young core of players. Trying to end a 14-game losing streak against the Badgers is going to be tough, though. Bucky is seething after two straight losses and don’t expect them to take the Illini lightly. Illinois posted big wins over Michigan State and Ohio State during its run and is brimming with confidence.

The Badgers won the early meeting 72-60 when they got almost nothing from Ethan Happ. Instead Nate Reuvers picked up the slack and Wisconsin cruised. After a couple of disappointing games when he still posted double-doubles, expect Happ to be engaged and a handful. The line is big, but I like Happ and the Badgers to respond in a big way at home, making them the best bet against the points.
