New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox MLB Lines

Yankees at Red Sox MLB Betting

Reinforcements have arrived for the New York Yankees with Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge back in the lineup. The duo couldn’t have returned at a better time for Aaron Boone who was forced to sit back and watch as his team got dangerously close to slipping out of postseason contention. That’s terrible news for a Boston Red Sox squad that failed to cash against the MLB odds in the previous seven 2020 skirmishes to fall to 0-10 in the last 10 overall. The BoSox will look to Tanner Houck in the series finale in hopes that he can shine in his second career start much like he did in his season debut. The Yanks will counter with Deivi Garcia who has been nothing if not consistent in his four made starts since getting the call to the Bigs at the end of August. If interested in the future of both of these clubs, this pitching matchup will be must-see TV!

First pitch for the game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2020, at 1:07 p.m. ET from Fenway Park. The matchup will be aired live on TBS. You can bet on MLB Odds at BookMaker.eu every day of the season.

Odds Analysis

The Pinstripes just followed up their six-game losing streak with a six-game win streak after dropping 20 runs on the Toronto Blue Jays earlier in the week. The win pushed the Yankees to six-games over .500 for the season which has cost MLB bettors nearly $400 due to the fact that oddsmakers have installed them favorites in all but six of their 48 played games. The team has been pretty abysmal on the road as well where it’s logged a 9-14 record -$785. They’ve also dropped four of their last five trips to Beantown.

It’s been a lost season from the get-go for the Red Sox who enter the final stretch of it 18-31 overall. In playing .367 ball, Ron Roenicke’s troops have cost baseball bettors $932 overall with a bulk of the deficit coming in the comforts of Fenway where they’ve logged a miserable 7-17 record -$1019. But since dropping five straight in early September, Boston has won six of its last 10 played games to turn a near $500 profit for those that supported them during that stretch. Better late than never, right?!

Probable Pitchers

Deivi Garcia: With just one quality start through his first four turns at the MLB level, Garcia certainly looks to have the goods as suggested. Backing that claim up is a stellar 24:4 K/BB ratio that’s been bolstered by the youngster managing to go at least six innings in those outings. He just got done tossing 14 total innings in back-to-back starts against Toronto and limited them to just 11 hits and 5 ER while striking out 12 and walking five. NY has given him an average of nearly 10 runs per game to work with, but he’ll be challenged in his first-ever start against Boston who ranks No. 10 versus righties.

Tanner Houck: Houck gave Red Sox nation a glimpse into the future earlier in the week when he made his MLB debut against the playoff bound Miami Marlins. Though he issued three free passes through five innings and needed 86 total pitches to get there, he only surrendered two hits and kept the Fish scoreless while registering seven strikeouts. But this test will be much different than the last; Miami ranks in the bottom third of the league against right-handed pitching while the Yankees check in at No. 5 with a collective .245 batting average and .789 OPS.

MLB Pick

This series will serve as the Red Sox World Series. MLB bettors didn’t have high hopes for the Red Sox before the abbreviated season began, and their doubts came to fruition. However, I can’t help but think Boston goes all-out through the weekend to save some face and possibly throw a wrench into their hated rival’s playoff seeding. While I’d never advocate being the guy to bet against a streak, I want to see how Garcia performs in his first taste of the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry. The BoSox have been playing a more competitive brand of ball recently, and I fully expect that level of play to carry over into this series. Take a shot with the Red Sox in this game as well as for the full series; it’s their Super Bowl!

MLB Odds: Red Sox 5, Yankees 4
