Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox MLB Betting

Quirky scheduling finds the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox opening up their abbreviated two-game series on Saturday in front of a nationally televised FOX audience. The Pale Hose swept the two-game series earlier in the MLB betting season at Wrigley Field, and linemakers will have Tony LaRussa’s squad favored to bust out the brooms on the 2022 series through Sunday. The first of the two match-ups will pit left-hander Wade Miley up against veteran left-hander Dallas Keuchel who’s been nothing if not cannon fodder for opposing offenses through seven starts. Though Keuchel has been nothing short of hot garbage, you can bet your bottom dollar online sportsbooks have him lined inflated home chalk which has me leaning towards taking the plus-money price back with the visiting Cubs who will be out for some retribution.

First pitch for the interleague showdown between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox is scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2022. Take it in live on FOX at 7:15 p.m. ET from Guaranteed Rate Field. Bet on MLB odds and player props at BookMaker.eu every day of the season.

Odds Analysis

Chicago got out to a decent start to their 2022 campaign in winning six of their first 10 played games to sit atop the NL Central standings. Since then, David Ross’s troops have gone on to drop 20 of their last 30 games to fall into third place along with the Pittsburgh Pirates. This franchise was expected to be a dynasty with the young talent that was stockpiled under the prior regime. Instead, they’re fighting for third place in the NL Central with the Buccos - how freaking sad! In playing eight-games under the breakeven point, the Cubs have cost MLB bettors nearly $500 overall. However, they’ve been a .500 team on the road. We’re yet to see the White Sox fully healthy. Because of it, Chicago only sits a game over .500 overall -$69, and stands a single game under .500 as a host entering the week -$276. That being said, it returns home to host the BoSox having won each of its last two series against the Royals and Yankees.

Probable Pitchers

Wade Miley L: The Cubs own one of the worst starting rotations in the Bigs. Marcus Stroman has done nothing since being inked in the offseason. Kyle Hendricks has been extremely inconsistent. Those two represent the Cubs No. 1 and No. 2 starters. With Adbert Alzolay and Alec Mills yet to throw a single pitch this season, Miley has stepped to the forefront to become Chicago’s most dependable arm. Through three starts, he’s 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 10:7 K/BB ratio. He’s surrendered just 6.9 hits per nine innings and his 3.16 FIP lets it be known that his limited work has been legit. With no team taking fewer walks than the White Sox, it’s possible he’s in line for a third straight quality start provided Luis Robert and Co. don’t pepper him.

Dallas Keuchel L: The south paw has issued at least three walks in four of his last five starts. It’s gotten so bad that his BB/9 average clocks in at a career-worst 5.4 through his 30 total innings of work. If that’s not enough to paint a picture of just how bad it’s been for the veteran, maybe the 42 hits allowed will do the trick. Keuchel’s ERA checks in at an absurd 6.60 which is higher than the 5.28 he closed last year out that resulted in a 9-9 record and being left off the playoff roster. It looks like things have come to a crashing halt for the veteran with his WHIP registering at a whopping 2.00! The Cubs offense leaves much to be desired No. 17, but they’re 6-6 versus lefties and rank No. 12 overall at taking walks doing so over 10 percent of the time.

Cubs vs. White Sox Prediction

Let it be known that I’m not running to the betting window to lay my hard earned money down on this matchup. Personally, I’ll be staying as far away from it as possible. But if you must have money down in the first game of this weekend’s nationally televised “Crosstown Classic,” I’d back the Cubs in the first five innings. Miley has been the only consistent bright spot in Chicago’s starting rotation this month, while Keuchel continues to serve up batting practice. Should Patrick Wisdom and his mates scratch a few runs across the plate early, I have faith in Miley making that lead hold up until the sixth inning.
