Terence Crawford vs. David Avanesyan Boxing Betting

Terence Crawford is currently ranked the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world by ESPN. Crawford (38-0 with 29 knockouts) has been outstanding over the course of his career with an unblemished record as a three-division champion. He previously held titles at lightweight and light welterweight before moving to welterweight, and he was originally supposed to face Errol Spence Jr. in a unification fight. However, boxing fans will have to settle for Crawford facing David Avanesyan (29-3-1 with 17 knockouts).

On Saturday, December 10, 2022, David Avanesyan will look to unseat WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford. These two fighters will face off at CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska on traditional PPV platforms.

David Avanesyan vs Terence Crawford Preview

Since turning pro in 2008, Terence Crawford has proved that he is one of the best non-heavyweight boxers in the world. Crawford ran his record to 22-0 before he challenged for his first major title in March 2014, and he scored a unanimous decision victory over Ricky Burns to win the WBO lightweight belt. He defended that title once and then added The Ring lightweight title to his waist with a victory over Ray Beltran.

That was enough for Crawford to make the jump to light welterweight. He scored a sixth-round TKO of Thomas Dulorme to claim the WBO light welterweight title in April 2015. Crawford easily defended the belt twice, and then he took on Viktor Postol for additional federation titles at light welterweight. Postol proved to be a tough test and forced a unanimous decision victory.

This would prove to be the final time that Crawford didn’t knock out his opponent. He finished John Molina Jr. in the eighth round, and Felix Diaz’s corner threw in the towel after 10 rounds. Crawford fully unified the division with an impressive victory over Julius Indongo five years ago.

Once again, he had nothing else to prove at that weight class, so Crawford moved up to where he sits now at welterweight. Crawford claimed the WBO welterweight belt with a ninth round TKO of Jeff Horn, and he has defended the belt five times with knockouts inside of 10 rounds each time.

David Avanesyan isn’t nearly as polished as Crawford. Avanesyan has largely fought for regional titles throughout his professional career, although he did win the interim WBA welterweight title with a ninth round TKO over Charlie Navarro. He defended the title against the legendary Sugar Shane Mosley (who was in 45), but then he lost two of his next three bouts. Avanesyan lost a unanimous decision to Lamont Peterson and was dropped in the sixth round by Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

Since that latest loss, Avanesyan has been a man on a mission. He won the European welterweight belt with a ninth-round TKO of Kerman Lejarraga in March 2019. Avanesyan has gone on to defend that title five times with knockouts inside the sixth round every time.

Crawford has a 70-inch reach compared to a 68-inch reach for Avanesyan, so it’s very difficult to see a path to victory for the challenger.
