Oleksandr Usyk vs Dereck Chisora Betting Odds

Oleksandr Usyk -924

Dereck Chisora +606

Given his record compared to his opponent, it’s no surprise to see Usyk installed as a significant favorite per the boxing betting odds. Even though Usyk has only fought once as a heavyweight, a $924 wager on him to win returns just $100. A hundo on Chisora would win you $606 and bragging rights if you bet the upset.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Dereck Chisora Preview

After Vasiliy Lomachenko laid an egg in his title fight, some are doubting Usyk. Lomachenko’s countryman was considered an amateur prodigy while fighting for Ukraine too, winning the gold medal in the heavyweight division at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

However, Usyk has yet to lose and has only been tested once in his career. His professional career started with a bang. He recorded a knockout in each of his first nine fights, setting up a title fight with Krzysztof Glowacki with the WBO cruiserweight belt on the line. Glowacki was able to stand toe-to-toe with Usyk for the whole bout, but the challenger won a unanimous decision.

That was followed with two title defenses before he took part in the World Boxing Super Series. Usyk scored a 10th round TKO of Marco Huck in his first fight, and then he took on Mairis Briedis with the WBO and WBC belts on the line. Briedis kept it tight throughout and landed almost as many punches, leading to a narrow majority decision win for Usyk.

Usyk unified the cruiserweight division in July 2018 with a unanimous decision win over Murat Gassiev. He successfully defended all five belts against Tony Bellew four months later, and then he made the decision to move to heavyweight. His first fight was a mess as he was originally supposed to take on Tyrone Spong until Spong failed a drug test three days before the bout. That led to Chazz Witherspoon filling in on short notice, and he fell in the seventh round. A win for Usyk against Chisora will reportedly lead to a title fight against Anthony Joshua sometime in 2021.

Chisora has been a gatekeeper in the heavyweight division for some time now. He was unable to defeat Vitali Klitschko, Tyson Fury, or Dillian Whyte, but he has taken down almost every other boxer he has faced in his career. He has won his last two fights inside of four rounds, but there’s a reason he is a significant underdog against Usyk.
