Nonito Donaire vs Reymart Gaballo Betting Odds

We have yet to see boxing betting odds released for this fight. Nonito Donaire is expected to be the favorite, but Reymart Gaballo is unbeaten in his career. For those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, if Donaire is -800, that would mean $800 needs to be placed on him in order to win $100. That would make Gaballo around a +450 underdog, so a $100 bet on Gaballo could return a $450 profit.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Nonito Donaire vs Reymart Gaballo Preview

The Filipino Flash has been one of the top boxers in the world over the last dozen years. Nonito Donaire was named Fighter of the Year in 2012, and he has claimed titles in four different weight classes over the course of his illustrious career.

Donaire won his first major belt in July 2007. He defeated Vic Darchinyan by fifth round TKO to claim the IBF and IBO flyweight titles. He successfully defended those belts three times before moving up to super flyweight and scored a unanimous decision over Rafael Concepcion for the WBA super flyweight belt in his next fight.

That was followed by a move to bantamweight, and he continued to dominate his opponents with a second round TKO of Fernando Montiel to win the WBC and WBO bantamweight straps. Donaire claimed a title in his fourth weight class with a split decision victory over Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in February 2012, winning all those titles in less than five years. He won his next three fights more convincingly before falling to Guillermo Rigondeaux by unanimous decision 13 months later.

It’s been an up and down trajectory for Donaire since that loss. He beat Simpiwe Vetyeka by technical decision for the WBA featherweight belt, and then he lost by sixth round TKO to Nicholas Walters in his next fight. Donaire won the WBO super bantamweight belt the next year, but then he lost it 11 months later to Jessie Magdaleno. Donaire is no longer the overpowering fighter he was in his prime, yet he did finish Nordine Oubaali in the fourth round to claim the WBC bantamweight belt in May.

Fellow Filipino Reymart Gaballo only turned pro in 2014. He is 14 years younger than his opponent, but he isn’t nearly as experienced. His first big win didn’t come until three years ago when he beat Stephon Young by unanimous decision for the interim WBA bantamweight title.

Gaballo finished his next four opponents inside of six rounds, leading to a chance to take the interim WBC bantamweight belt last year. He scored a split decision win over Emmanuel Rodriguez, but it wasn’t very convincing.

Donaire is an inch taller than Gaballo, and he has a half-inch reach advantage too. He is no longer the same boxer that used to dominate foes in the past, but he has what it takes to win on Saturday night.
