Nate Diaz vs Jake Paul Boxing Betting

The novelty of celebrity fighting has yet to wear off, so promoters are going to cash in as much as possible. Since becoming a professional fighter in January 2000, Jake Paul has tried to fight twice a year, and he will enter the ring for the second time in 2023 when he takes on Nate Diaz during the first weekend of August. Diaz is one of the most popular fighters in the history of UFC, but he is a sizeable underdog per the boxing betting odds against Paul.

Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz is being promoted as Ready 4 War, and it will have a full card on Saturday, August 5, 2023. This promotion will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, and it will be a ten-round bout after both fighters agreed to move the distance from eight rounds to ten rounds. On the primary undercard, Amanda Cerrano will defend her unified women’s featherweight title against Heather Hardy.

There are allegations that Nate Diaz is looking to throw this fight in exchange for some extra cash, but Diaz has vociferously denounced those claims. Some have reported that Diaz may be suffering from brain damage and is hoping for one more big check, but Diaz categorically denied those rumors by stating this on Martyn’s Raw Talk podcast:

"They're like, 'Tell me you're not going to take a fall against Paul'. Everybody says that to me. I'm like are you kidding me? You couldn't pay me all the money in the world to fall on anybody ever, like what the fxxx is that?"

Diaz was well-respected as a fighter in the UFC, but he had plenty of losses with a 21-13 career record. He did upset Tony Ferguson in his last UFC fight in September, earning a Performance of the Night bonus, but he only entered the Octagon four times from September 2016 to now.

Jake Paul has already defeated three former UFC fighters in the ring. He scored an early knockout of Ben Askren, won a unanimous decision over Anderson Silva, and defeated Tyron Woodley twice in a four-month stretch. He is coming off a loss in his last fight though as Tommy Fury defeated Paul by split decision to put the first blemish on his record.

The Paul Brothers have been more competitive in the ring than many people expected. That has led to Paul being such a favorite in this fight, and he has the experience edge as a boxer as Diaz did not box before joining the UFC. Additionally, Diaz was a submission specialist and didn’t stand and trade a lot.

This is an interesting fight as Paul and Diaz have the same reach, and they are pretty much the same height. Paul is 12 years younger than Diaz and should have the stamina edge, but Diaz is tough and doesn’t back down. That has me looking to put a little money on Diaz to win by knockout.
