There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this bout, but it’s likely to be a closely lined fight with Marriaga the probable favorite. For those that are just starting to understand betting on boxing, if Marriaga is a -130 favorite, that means you would have to wager $130 on him to win $100. That would make Joet Gonzalez around a +100 underdog, so a $100 wager on him would effectively double your money if he were to win.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Miguel Marriaga vs Joet Gonzalez Preview

It took some time for Marriaga to come to the attention of the boxing world. He spent three years fighting professionally in Colombia before leaving the country, knocking out all but one of his opponents in that stretch. However, that type of dominance couldn’t go unnoticed for too long, leading to a bout with Alejandro Delgado for the WBC Continental Americas belt.

Marriaga won that belt and defended the title a year later against Jesus Galicia, eventually running his record to 20-0 before he received his first title shot. He couldn’t get past Nicholas Walters though, losing his first fight by a unanimous decision with the WBA super featherweight belt on the line.

Five straight victories earned Marriaga another title shot against Oscar Valdez, but he again lost by unanimous decision. He then took his shot at the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world in Vasyl Lomachenko, but Lomachenko easily dispatched of him, sending him back down to featherweight. Marriaga has won his last four fights within the first six rounds, and he would love to do that again.

Joet Gonzalez doesn’t have the same power as his opponent, but his record is more impressive. Gonzalez proved he was for real with a win over then-undefeated Marcos Rios in November 2015, and he continued to beat quality opponents such as Deivi Julio Bassa, Derrick Murray, and Rafael Rivera as he rose through the ranks. That latter fight against Rivera earned Gonzalez the WBO NABO featherweight title, and he defended it against Rodrigo Guerrero and Manuel Avila.

That earned Gonzalez the right to take on Olympic medalist Shakur Stevenson for the vacant WBO featherweight belt last October. He lost that fight in a lopsided unanimous decision, but he is hungry for another shot.

Total Rounds Betting

The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds. Total betting rounds odds will be available soon so be sure to check back. Total betting rounds odds is a wager on how long the fight will last. Let’s say if the total rounds betting line is Over 9.5 Rounds -200, that means that if you think the fight is going to go all 10 rounds, for you to win your bet you would need to bet $200 to win $100. Conversely if you wager Under 9.5 Rounds +150, you would need to risk $100 to win $150. As long as the fight did not go past the 9th round, you would win the under.
