Luis Nunez vs Carlos Arrieta Betting Odds

The oddsmakers have yet to release boxing betting odds for this fight between Luis Nunez and Carlos Arrieta. Nunez is expected to be the favorite though, as his resume has been more impressive than that of Arrieta although both boxers are unbeaten. For those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, if Nunez were a -500 favorite, that would mean a $500 bet on Nunez would return $100 if he were to win. A $100 bet on Arrieta would likely return $350 or so if he were to stay undefeated.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Luis Nunez vs Carlos Arrieta Preview

Since turning pro in 2018, Luis Nunez has carved a path through the super bantamweight division. Nunez beat up on tomato cans in his first six fights, scoring knockouts against each opponent while facing just one boxer with a winning record. Donny Garcia made him work for his first win that went the full distance, but his first decent opponent was Eliezer Aquino.

Nunez scored a unanimous decision over Aquino to win the Dominican Republic super bantamweight title in October 2019. He defended that belt with a TKO over Garcia a few months later before the initial COVID outbreak sidelined his career for eight months.

His return was convincing as he scored a TKO win over Juan Gabriel Guzman Pichardo. Nunez won the WBA Fedelatin super bantamweight belt with a knockout of 10-1-1 Giovanni Gutierrez, and then he scored a unanimous decision win over Florentino Perez Hernandez in May. His most recent bout saw Nunez handle unbeaten Jayvon Garrett by unanimous decision in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. It was his first fight in the United States, as all of Nunez’s previous bouts came in the Dominican Republic.

Carlos Arrieta has yet to lose a professional fight, but he has not faced the same caliber of fighters as Nunez. Arrieta scored knockouts in his first six bouts, but only one of those six boxers had a win on their record coming into the fight.

His first victory over an opponent with a winning record came in his 10th fight. Arrieta scored a unanimous decision victory over Martin Diaz in June 2019, and he won a majority decision over Ricardo Nunez three months later. He has won his three fights since that victory, but none of those bouts came against quality opponents. Additionally, Arrieta last entered the ring in November 2020.

Neither boxer has fought at lightweight before, so both fighters will have put on weight ahead of this bout. Nunez is an inch taller than Arrieta, and his reach is a little longer too. That should allow him to control the fight, and he might be able to secure a knockout since he has shown he has the power.
