Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz Boxing Odds

Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz Boxing Betting

One of the most exciting boxers in the sport today will enter the ring for the second time this year. Gervonta Davis knows how to give the fans what they want, and he will look to defend his WBA lightweight title against challenger Isaac Cruz. Davis (25-0 with 24 knockouts) has knocked out 16 straight opponents, while Cruz (22-1-1 with 15 knockouts) has not had the same power as he has taken on more difficult opponents.

Gervonta Davis vs. Isaac Cruz will be one of the last boxing matches to take place at the Staples Center. The iconic arena in downtown Los Angeles will become the Crypto.com Arena on Christmas Day, so there is a little added significance for their showdown on Sunday, December 5, 2021. This promotion will take place on Showtime PPV starting at 8 p.m. ET.

When: Sunday, December 5, 2021

Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California

Why: WBA Lightweight Championship

Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz Betting Odds

There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this fight. However, Gervonta Davis is expected to be a significant favorite by the boxing wagering line. If you are new to betting on boxing, Davis is likely to be a -1000 favorite or higher. At that price, you would need to bet at $1000 on Davis to win $100. That should make Cruz a significant underdog so a $100 wager on the challenger could lead to a hefty payday if he is up to the task.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz Preview

Few boxers in the sport today have been as impressive as Gervonta Davis. The former Golden Gloves champion has claimed titles in three weight classes, and he only recently turned 27.

Davis won the IBF super featherweight title in January 2017 with a seventh round TKO of Jose Pedraza. He claimed the WBA super featherweight belt with a third round TKO of Jesus Cuellar 15 months later, and he defended that belt with a first round knockout and a second round knockout before moving up to lightweight.

Yuriorkis Gamboa proved to be a formidable foe, lasting 12 rounds before Davis finally sent him to the canvas to win the WBA lightweight belt. Davis defended that belt and re-claimed the WBA super featherweight title with a sixth round knockout of Leo Santa Cruz last Halloween. He added the WBA super lightweight championship to his waist with an 11th round TKO of Mario Barrios in Atlanta this summer too.

Davis is nicknamed Tank because he hits like one. He has knocked out 24 of his 25 opponents, and he has a significant edge coming into this fight. His reach is 4 ½ inches longer than that of Isaac Cruz, so it will be tough for the challenger to get inside of the champion.

Cruz is 22-1-1, but he has received some good fortune from the judges. Two of his first five wins were decided by split decision and majority decision, and he won a majority decision over Thomas Mattice last Valentine’s Day. His first round knockout of two-time title challenger Diego Magdaleno last Halloween was very impressive, but he needed to go to the cards to beat Jose Matias Romero and Francisco Vargas earlier this year.

Gervonta Davis was originally supposed to take on Rolando Romero in this bout, but Romero was pulled from the fight for legal reasons earlier this month. Isaac Cruz was announced as his replacement a few days later, and this will be the first time that Cruz headlines a fight. He is way out of his league though, and there is a very good chance that Davis finishes him inside of six rounds.
