Unsurprisingly, Golovkin is an enormous favorite per the boxing betting odds. His only two non-victories have been against the best boxer in the world (Canelo Alvarez), so he is widely expected to send Kamil Szeremeta to the canvas on Friday. If you’re unfamiliar with betting on boxing, you would need to wager $2500 on GGG to win $100 at this price. As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Gennady Golovkin vs Kamil Szeremeta Preview

Golovkin is one of the most impressive boxers of this generation. GGG has made a name for himself by punishing opponents in the ring. Although he was only able to claim a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, he has repeatedly shown that he has unparalleled power for a boxer his size.

It only took three years for Golovkin to receive his first major title fight. He was 18-0 when he faced Milton Nunez for the WBA interim middleweight title in Panama City. GGG proved that he was the real deal with a first-round KO of Nunez, and he won the official title four months later with a third-round KO of Nilson Julio Tapia in Astana.

That began a dizzying ascent for GGG. He added the IBO middleweight belt with a first-round KO of Lajuan Simon, and he defended those two belts eight straight times with knockouts in the eighth round or earlier. Golovkin tacked on the WBC title against Marco Antonio Rubio, and he fully unified the middleweight division against David Lemieux in October 2015.

Although he has a draw and a loss to Alvarez, Golovkin should have at least a win and a loss if not for some questionable judging decisions. GGG is widely seen to have one the first fight against Alvarez, although he was given a draw, and his majority decision loss in the rematch was a bit of a headscratcher too. However, that hasn’t stopped him from looking impressive against his other foes.

Golovkin reclaimed the IBF and IBO middleweight belts last October in Madison Square Garden against Sergiy Derevyanchenko. However, it wasn’t his best performance. He won a narrow unanimous decision and didn’t have the same power that has defined his career.

Szeremeta is currently unbeaten. He wasn’t a hyped amateur, but he has carved a path to become a top middleweight. We saw Szeremeta win the vacant European middleweight belt in February 2018 with a second-round TKO of Alessandro Goddi. He retained the title twice with victories over Ruben Diaz and Andrew Francillette.

For most of his career, Szeremeta hasn’t had knockout power. However, that has changed in his recent fights. Szeremeta has secured three of his last five wins without needing to go to the scorecards. That’s vital against a hard hitter like GGG, otherwise Golovkin will repeatedly charge him. Stamina is a concern for the challenger though. This will be just his third fight scheduled for 12 rounds.
